Dappier is the world’s first online marketplace for AI content and data rights. Get paid fairly as your licensed content is accessed by AI companies around the world.
Hey PH fam 👋
Today, I'm super excited to bring Dappier 2.0 to the wider tech community around the world! 🌎
We’re in the middle of an unprecedented AI revolution with an explosion of LLMs that are scraping the Internet to power Gen AI. This is fantastic except for ... the traditional media companies who are getting left behind.
If you're a content/ media publisher, the writing is on the wall. Your licensed content is NOT protected from getting scraped/accessed by ChatGPT, LLaMA or Claude etc. along with thousands of other AI agents.
So what are your choices?
Either ignore the problem and suffer from the direct web traffic (from human users) to your websites.
Or be part of the revolution and see AI as a new distribution and revenue channel.
That's what really got me excited about Dappier when @dgoikhman shared this vision with me.
Dappier is the world’s first online marketplace for AI content and data rights.
Now media companies (websites, blogs, newsletters) can get paid fairly as their licensed content is accessed by millions of AI agents around the world on a pay-per-query or ad-supported basis.
Are you a media company or a content owner? Well, explore Dappier by yourself. The entire platform is self-serve and has a free forever plan that allows you to connect your content via RSS or simply by connecting an Airtable.
Most publishing platforms (Beehiiv, Substack, Medium, etc) all support RSS feed creation so you can be chatting with an AI based on your content and licensing it to generate new revenue in minutes.
How cool is that?! Your blog could be turned into an AI interface.
Here are some more key features: → Connect your data
Connect your content and proprietary data from anywhere. Your data stays exclusively your own.
→ Self-Serve Fine-Tuning
Use our self-serve platform to easily transform all your content and data into something an AI can talk to.
→ Publish your AI agents
Launch new AI-powered chatbots, natural search and content recommendations on your sites and apps.
→ Monetize your content
Generate new revenue by permissioned content syndication to AI companies and setting your own price.
I recently got a chance to check out the demo and I was instantly impressed.
Everyone on the founding team are passionate about this problem and have deep domain (media tech) expertise across multiple startups. I felt compelled by their vision and agreed to help with this public PH launch campaign.
Big shoutout to the Dappier team (Dan, Krish, Josh, Akshay and more) who are all here today 😀

@mkl_zx Thanks for your support! Please let us know if you have any feedback as you try out the site; we're especially curious to see what verticals people might want to see better represented on our marketplace!
Hello Product Hunt community!
I’m Dan, co-founder and CEO at Dappier, a first of it’s kind marketplace helping content owners monetize AI, as recently featured on TechCrunch (https://techcrunch.com/2024/06/2...).
For the last 15 years or so I’ve been building startups at the intersection of content distribution, monetization, and emerging technology, working closely with media publishers, content owners, and ad tech companies.
When Open AI launched ChatGPT I personally witnessed the growing fear among media publishers about how their content was being used without permission or attribution. In the year or so since, things haven’t gotten much better; there have been dozens of lawsuits filed by major media companies against the AI platforms like New York Times vs. OpenAI. In parallel, we’ve heard about a few big licensing deals like those happening between Reddit and Google. The problem with these whole-sale licensing agreements is that while a few large publishers may be able to get them, they still greatly undervalue the content and aren’t accessible for most publishers and creators. The problem is only getting worse as we see every major consumer app including Google Search, Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin and more including AI answers in their core experiences. If publishers and content owners don’t act now to try and define the rules of how their content is accessed by AI, the rules will be written for them.
Now is the time for a better solution.
Instead of looking at “...AI as a traffic destroying nightmare” as the WSJ recently said, I think publishers can start thinking about AI as a new distribution opportunity; just like the web, social, video, and other emerging platforms that came before, except this time, we’re going to be seeing millions of AI agents hungry for content all around the world.
We believe queries from LLMs are the new ad impression in this new, AI internet.
That’s why we are building Dappier. The world’s first online marketplace for AI content and data rights. Now media companies (websites, blogs, newsletters) can get paid fairly as their licensed content is accessed by millions of AI agents around the world on a pay-per-query or ad-supported basis.
We’re just getting started and we're so excited to have you try Dappier today so we have a special discount for the Product Hunt community.
You'll get 50% off on all of our paid plans (Starter or Professional) for up to 1 year if you use the code: PRODUCTHUNT50
Our whole team and I will be here today for your feedback, questions and thoughts on the product. Thank you for checking it out and excited to hear what you think!
This is an interesting idea as I don't feel great about creating content based on my experience that's then vacuumed up by an LLM and repackaged to their users without getting any kind of recognition.
However, I'm very confused about your product.
After going through your website I still had a number of questions that prevented me from signing up:
1. How much can I earn? I understand that it's going to be different for everyone, but give me some ballpark figures to see if it's worth my time checking your product out further.
2. I write a blog using Wordpress that has lots of curated data. It's not a big blog but gets some traffic, I can't work out if Dappier is for me or is it for big media houses? Who is Dappier for? How do I know if LLMs want my data or content?
3. I don't get what happens after I add my website, do I sit back and watch the money roll in or do I have to be pro-active?
4. If I earn money from my content why do I need a paid plan?
5. What is an AI agent? I didn't find anything that talks about what an AI agent is or why it's necessary to create one to earn money
@peterclaridge great points and questions - let me take them one at a time:
1. How much can I earn? I understand that it's going to be different for everyone, but give me some ballpark figures to see if it's worth my time checking your product out further.
Will think through how we help estimate the potential built dappier as a full stack solution exactly for this reason. For example, we want to provide the tools to host your own AI solutions without significant upfront investment and you set the pricing (thinking about it like a CPM model) for licensing. We will work on an estimation tool!
2. I write a blog using Wordpress that has lots of curated data. It's not a big blog but gets some traffic, I can't work out if Dappier is for me or is it for big media houses? Who is Dappier for? How do I know if LLMs want my data or content?
We're working on tools to help you understand how much your content is being scraped or used by AI platforms today, that isn't live just yet. That said, Dappier is for everyone, from an individual newsletter operator or blogger through to a mass media company. If AI is going to be any good, it needs access to that latest and greatest data across every imaginable niche and vertical, we want to provide the pipes to make that happen.
3. I don't get what happens after I add my website, do I sit back and watch the money roll in or do I have to be pro-active?
Hosting AI widgets on your website are meant to be value-add to your users, and you can add a paywall or monetize the additional time on site with ads - we're going to be working on our own ad-supported version as well.
4. If I earn money from my content why do I need a paid plan?
Anyone can submit content and build one data model for free, the paid + plans really kick in when we're adding and hosting a number of data sources
Thanks for the feedback!
@dynasty hey there! Josh from Dappier team here. We basically make it easy for any brand to license their content to AI developers.
Just ingest your content - then Dappier creates an AI-ready data model & associated AI agent that’s an expert in your content. You can use the Dappier AI Agent builder to fine-tune & deploy your own on-site experiences, but the real magic happens you license that data. Just pick a price point and your data model will be listed on Dappier Marketplace as a RAG API, which can be easily added to any GPT or LLM. You’ll get paid whenever your data is used to generate a response, no matter where users are chatting.
We’d love your feedback!
Congrats on the launch! I'm curious how you ensure fair compensation for content creators? Do you have any data on average earnings so far? Also, how do you handle potential copyright issues with AI companies accessing licensed content?
@kyrylosilin Josh from Dappier team here - thanks for your interest! We let content creators set their own price point; in the future we'll be working on tools to help those creators better understand the potential value of their data. Right now we recommend thinking of it like a CPM: AI chats are the new Internet search experience, and that makes AI responses the new home for 'ad impressions' - however that might look on an agent-by-agent basis.
Our data models are pretty new, but we're working with each dataset team now to start developing case studies to report our findings.
In terms of copyright issues - we think it goes a huge way for a brand to just have a legal framework that they can point to to say that this is how they'd like their data to be used. We see ourselves as what iTunes was to Napster: giving people online a legal alternative when right now potentially illegal practices dominate the space. In the near future we'd love to also roll out tools to help content creators understand who is scraping their data!
Wow! I’ve used products similar but Dappier has much more features, great design, looks super easy to use, and users can get paid! Must give it a shot later this week!
Dappier 2.0 is a game-changer! Love how it combats AI data scraping and ensures fair payment for content. The marketplace concept is brilliant. Great job on this launch!
@roymorejon Hey there - Josh from Dappier team here! Thanks so much for your support. Please let us know if there's any data models or verticals you'd love to see represented on Dappier Marketplace.
We are a small self-publisher with 15 books and 2 YouTube livestreams/podcasts (Author Adventure 51 shows and Wild West Diversity 73 shows) and 2 substacks (AuthorLizLawless 77 articles and WildWestDiversity 22 articles) and lead a dynamic authors group of about 30 other self-published authors (1-11 books depending on author). Signed up through KP's substack article/interview. What should we do first? I receive AirTable newsletter but not sure how it works.
@authorlizlawless Hey there! Josh from Dappier team - please reach out via hello@dappier.com.
If you have any data in an RSS feed or in an Airtable database, you can just use our AI agent builder by heading to dappier.com.
Otherwise we’ll be adding more self-service ways to ingest content very soon, but we’d be happy to discuss how we can best sync & license your content!
@authorlizlawless First, sign up for a free account at dappier.com (specifically, https://platform.dappier.com/home). Create an AI agent and connect your content sources. If you have RSS feeds for any of your content, we can ingest them. Create a simple description and persona, test it out, and publish the data model. With the data model, you can publish to the marketplace, set your price, and LLM builders can access your content at a cost. You'll receive attribution as your content is used to answer questions in AI. We also provide a dashboard for real-time usage and earnings.
We also offer out-of-the-box embeddable widgets, such as AI-powered content recommendations, RAG APIs, and chatbots.
I have documented a walkthrough of the creation process as well: https://docs.dappier.com/configu...
@krish_arvapally Thanks Krish ... don't know about the RSS feed will have to ask my producing partner who handles our tech stuff or search for it on substack in case they have one. Use to have an RSS feed connected to my Amazon Author Page (early podcast i think) but Amazon discontinued that option when they updated to new Author Page version over a year ago (which is not nearly as good ... some things should be left alone). I will figure it out or I will be back in touch. :-)
