Almost 10 years have passed since DD-WRT for iOS was first released. The app has been well received over the last 10 years by DD-WRT users and now version 3 is finally here. For those that don’t know, DD-WRT is a third party firmware that adds many new features and performance improvements to your home WiFi router. DD-WRT for iOS is a simplified UI for managing your DD-WRT router. Making certain tasks extremely simple and now making automation possible. DD-WRT for iOS version 3 v3 has been completely rewritten from the ground up. No more Connect button. One of the biggest new features in v3 is Siri Shortcuts support. There are currently 3 shortcut intents available in the iOS Shortcuts app: Reboot Router Wake on LAN Run Command With iOS Shortcuts ability to run tasks on schedule, on events, on voice command, from home screen buttons etc.. we now have endless automation possibilities with a DD-WRT router, especially in combination with the Run Command shortcut. You can now do things like: Wake your computer as you arrive at the office Schedule a nightly reboot of your router when you go to sleep Add your children’s devices to the block list with a voice command when it’s homework time Enable/Disable Port Forwarding at certain times of the day Add home screen shortcut buttons for your most common tasks The possibilities are endless. v2 supported iOS 12+ which bloated the code, making it harder to implement new iOS features, so going forward v3 will only support the latest iOS release, meaning any new technologies that Apple releases can be implemented immediately.
