Doo helps you build sustainable habits that keep you focused. Create a card for each task. Pick a few tasks each day and snooze the rest. Over time your completed cards become finished projects, without the productivity guilt.
Looks interesting. Would have loved to try the app before buying as specially for the todo app we dont know it is going work for you until we try. Do you have TestFlight for ios 14, if it I would love to test. Thanks.
Quick question: are there plans to include a feature where I can type when I want to be reminded. Seems tedious right now. Example : Remind me to pick up laundry at 8 AM
@nikhiljoisr It's something I'm considering, but to be perfectly honest the way the edit screen works is designed so you don't need to type out reminders as text. It's supposed to do it for you.
In your example you can type "pick up laundry", tap the clock icon, and tap 8 and you're done.
Edit: Is there something about how it's working now that you think could be improved?
Hi Product Hunt! 👋
Doo 3 is the next iteration of my to-do app obsession. In case you don't know, I started Doo as a revolt against typical productivity software. I reject the idea that you need 1,000 features and instead want to focus on building something with an opinion. I want people to discover how to build better habits without feeling bogged down by their software.
There are some big changes in Doo 3 that I'm excited about! The first is obviously a brand new design with a heavy emphasis on minimalism. Doo is the to-do app that wants you to focus on one thing at a time. The design has been stripped down as much as possible while still being inviting and warm. Each task takes on one of two dozen colors.
The second is completely re-thought task entry. Type a task title and options appear over the keyboard. As you select things like date and time, your choices build as a sentence. You can tap any part of the text to edit. This approach works together with a custom keyboard set to make creating reminders much faster. So much so that I had to slow down my App Previews so people can process what's happening.
The third update I want to call out is the ability to categorize tasks into groups like Personal and Work. This has been the biggest ask since the first version of Doo launched in 2016. I've done my best to strike a balance so that this new feature can be ignored if you prefer the classic functionality. Many of the design choices I made encourage the use of a handful of categories rather than hundreds.
So there it is! ⭐️ I hope you'll take Doo for a spin and share your thoughts. It's been a heck of a year to be locked in my apartment building an app, but I'm so happy and grateful to have it out in the world. More to come!
Best,
Michael
@mciarlo nice! Penny also said a task to only repeat X days after completion?
So if I have a task on the 1st of the month that repeats every 2 days after a completion, and I don't actually complete it on the 1st, but rather on the 2nd, then it's going to repeat on the 4th and not the 3rd of the month.
Is that possible? I consider it a must have feature, but so far I only encountered it in Todoist.
@anna_0x Doo supports this as well :) When you're creating a task, tap the "..." and make sure "Repeat from completion" is enabled. It will calculate the next due date from the day you mark it done instead of the current due date.
@mciarlo this is super awesome!! 😀 Any chance for an Android app down the line? I have an iPad but a truly useful task manager would have to sync with my phone…
hi mike,
i must say, im really in love with your idea and clean ui! it works like magic. the pain with huge and overloaded task lists is over for me. thank you!
Is there a way to set repeating to-do lists for daily habit forming? I'd love to set my ideal morning routine as to-do's to hold myself accountable. :D
Aside from that, I absolutely love the simplicity. Need more of that in my life <3
@philip_loyd You can set tasks to repeat daily/weekly/monthly/yearly, with custom intervals and specific weekdays. You could group multiple tasks together into something like "Morning routine" or put them into a checklist on a single task. Hope this helps!
