Love love love this idea but I just can’t jump on this design style bandwagon. Any plans to expand this to other illustration styles?
James Daly
@chrisgscott Really glad to hear you love the idea Chris! Yesss I completely agree, having just one style can get a bit limiting. I'm glad you said that, as I'm planning on releasing a Kit like this every 2-3 months, in completely different illustration styles. I love playing with different styles so this will give me an excuse to practice and expand my range, and will allow for more sites to have illustrations that stand out from the majority. Let me know if you have a favourite style in particular and I'll see if it can be included in a future Kit :)

@jamesdaly90 awesome! I’d love to see some flat line illustrations like these: https://creativemarket.com/graph...

@chrisgscott I'm liking this! I'll add it to the inspiration list :)

Hey Product Hunt! This is my second launch with DrawKit, after the first here: https://www.producthunt.com/post... We've hit over 4000 free illustrations downloaded, and something that's stood out during the weeks since first launch is people wanting to be able to customise their illustrations and get something more unique or specific to their brand or website/product/app, without going through the process of hiring a freelancer. So I've created the first DrawKit component Kit! It's made up of 100 different components, across characters, scene elements, UI elements, and devices, that are all designed to work together and be combined into a huge number of layouts, scenes, and illustrations. Every SVG component is hand-drawn on an iPad Pro, and then vectorised in Adobe Illustrator. Using any vector-editing app you'll be able to completely customise anything - colour, size, layout, add your own logos, your own elements, anything at all. The Kit is a one time purchase for lifetime access, able to be used in anything you like after purchase. Features: - 100 hand-drawn components, designed to work together - Fully vector SVG files - 25 characters - 25 scene elements - 25 UI elements - 25 devices - Customise the colours, sizes, elements - anything! - Build your own scenes, layouts, and illustrations - One-time purchase for lifetime access DISCOUNT CODES: I've also created 50 discount codes for the first 50 Product Hunt users, for 25% off the total price. Enter this code at checkout to apply it: j2d0v1p I hope you find it useful 😊 If you need help with anything at all when creating your illustrations let me know on Twitter at http://twitter.com/JamesDaly90 and I'll do everything I can to help! This must have taken forever, awesome that James has finally launched it!! I can see this being huge for people who want to create their own illustrations but don't have the technical skills / practice to be able to draw it all from scratch.

Pros:

This is such a smart idea! Also, the illustrations all look beautiful 😍

Cons:

None

Amazing project! Thanks for making this, James :)

@adithvictor Cheers Adith! Glad you like it! 😄

Fantastic illustrations, and a natural evolution for DrawKit! These must have taken a long time to draw. Most illustration packages I've come across don't include any devices other than phones, laptops and tablets so I really like that yours has hardware components like HDD and RAM.
James Daly
@anna_0x Thanks so much Anna! Yes haha I've been drawing like crazy for weeks to get them done 😂 I tried to get a good spread of devices, thinking that tech sites will be a big audience for this, so I'm glad that stood out

Visited the page again and saw this message: "Sorry, this product was removed from the homepage with this note: This is great but duplicate of https://www.producthunt.com/post.... It's unfair to other makers to repost this." I really don't think that that's the case here. What about so many new product features that get posted on PH? A recent example is Grid Layout Builder by Webflow. It's not a product, it's only a feature of a product that'd already been hunted, Webflow. Why are those not marked as duplicates but this is? I don't understand. "DrawKit DIY" is an extension of DrawKit but it's really a different product. You buy once and combine components to create custom illustrations. That's vastly different from buying/downloading each illustration separately an using them as is. A ton of work went into creating this expansion. I think this deserves to be a product on PH as much as My Desk (feature of AND CO) and Webflow Flexbox UI Builder (feature of Webflow) do, @rrhoover Just my opinion, take it as you will. No offense meant.
James Daly
@rrhoover @anna_0x Anna, thanks SO much for taking the time to write this and find all these examples, you've put my exact thoughts into words so much better than I could have 😊🙏 I sent a tweet Ryan's way and messaged on the PH support Intercom pretty much this, as DrawKit's paid DIY kit is a brand new product, entirely separate from the free section of the site. The paid DIY Kit has been designed to work as a standalone product, buy once and own forever, and used to create your own illustrations, with more customisation than the separate free product. I've been preparing and building up to this launch for months, so it's a bit of a bummer to see it marked as a duplicate of an entirely different product after being #1 for 12 hours, and that I've now missed the 24 hour window I had been working towards. I may have broken a PH rule I don't know about, in which case I'm very open to being corrected! However as you said I've seen many examples of a new product under a larger brand umbrella being launched, and felt this fit quite comfortably into this camp. Hopefully I hear back soon and get some clarity, and thanks again @anna_0x 😊
Anna Filou
@rrhoover @jamesdaly90 no problem, the examples just flowed into my head anyway. Don't think this is fair! They likely misunderstood this or the first product... Hope this is resolved soon, big bummer you lost first place over this 😞
Pradeep Baskaran
Great work, James!!

@pradeep_vicky Cheers Pradeep!

Perfect, looks like the modularization of icons has made it's way to Drawkit. Drawkit is already pretty tight but waiting for new illustrations slowed things down considerably.
James Daly
@jacob_rezi Thanks for the kind words Jacob, really great to hear you're liking DrawKit 😊 Yes, between Christmas, New Year, and finishing this Kit I've been slightly behind on the free illustrations 😅 But now that this has launched, starting tomorrow it's back to a new illustration every day 🤓🔥
