Very cool and reminds me of Apple iOS 9's push toward a universal search engine. It doesn't look like DuckDuckGo added Product Hunt yet but a while ago they integrated PH search results into the feed itself. Here are the results for "producthunt emoji":

@rrhoover thanks! If you or anyone else have ideas for how to improve the instant answer, please let me know. We'll get on adding the !producthunt bang.
Gabriel Weinberg
@yegg @rrhoover !ph & !producthunt works now!
Ryan Brink
@yegg Niiiiiice. Way to keep the PH crew happy. 👍
Gabriel Weinberg
@alexg473 @rrhoover there is a bug on safari on some versions of OSX, and I think it is on the PH side.

Love DDG. Also, great community @ https://duck.co

I'm a regular DDG user and really digging Bang! Just added @24sessions as a Bang!

Great feature. It'd be great if the auto-completion is integrated with Chrome url bar and with Alfred too!
Jorik
Love it a lot! As it seems like a 'side product' how do you foresee it will grow (how much of your team's effort goes towards this project)? And how has the response been from the companies / sites you're linking to — if any?
Gabriel Weinberg
@thisisjorik it's actually been around near the beginning of DuckDuckGo, I'm not sure when exactly but probably sometime in early 2009. It's remained largely a hidden feature though until very recently when we started letting people know about it on the SERP and redesigned this dedicated introductory page. In short, people love it on all sides (users, sites, us).
Jorik
@yegg Great stuff. Wondering how much this can help DDG grow; it sure attracts my attention :).

pretty cool feature. i like duckduck go

DDG is my primary search engine for several weeks now. Slowly moving away from Google 100%. There are some many great features available.
Justin Nemeth
Very cool! It looks like someone already added !trakt also :)

This is brilliant innovation. When you set DDG as your default search engine, you can use "!a candle wicks" in your URL bar to jump directly to the amazon search results. Bypass DDG and the "search" page entirely.
Drew Meyers
Super smart...I still use Google to search by own blog, this could be a better way to find old articles.
Ekaterina Klink
Nice one! Would be really helpful also to search in multiple sources at once, like !facebook !twitter !linkedin within the interface, without being redirected to the sources
Gabriel Weinberg
@ekaterinaklink thanks for the feedback!
Alex Kontis
I think this may be the feature that could sway me from Google, and as @rrhoover said, reminiscent of Apple's ideas for search too.
Kevin Mullett
Seems a bit like blekko /slashtags or just using Google operators like "site:amazon.com shoes"

I like using DDG but it's missing the search filters that I often use. On Google, I can filter my results by date, I don't think DDG has this (if it does, pls let me know). I can search by image size or news articles or books, etc. I really want to move away from Google completely but I'm not able to make DDG my default yet.
Gabriel Weinberg
@fbara we are working on date filters

Great to see those improvements. However, I m not there, yet... I had a few test weeks with DDG and still, search results where not as good as on Google (in my own humble opinion) and I had, to often, jump back to Google to find stuff I searched for. I'll watch you guys and hope you succeed. We need a strong competitor to Google and I believe you guys can do what the Bings and Yahoos could not. Keep up the good work!
Gabriel Weinberg
@rexromanum any examples I can investigate? Always trying to improve and they really help. You can email inbound at duckduckgo
Roman Weishäupl
@yegg I ll do another test week and collect some results and let you know. But I really like the Bang feature! !bang
Nichlas W. Andersen
Nice! Gonna try out DDG as my primary search engine.
jari
Still my favorite DDG feature! Think i've recommended a ProductHunt bang in the past, but they never implemented it 😥

This is really nice! I like sites and apps that helps you get all information from one place. Kind of like http://zoommyapp.com/ and https://ifttt.com
