Very cool and reminds me of Apple iOS 9's push toward a universal search engine.
It doesn't look like DuckDuckGo added Product Hunt yet but a while ago they integrated PH search results into the feed itself. Here are the results for "producthunt emoji":
@rrhoover thanks! If you or anyone else have ideas for how to improve the instant answer, please let me know. We'll get on adding the !producthunt bang.
Love it a lot! As it seems like a 'side product' how do you foresee it will grow (how much of your team's effort goes towards this project)? And how has the response been from the companies / sites you're linking to — if any?
@thisisjorik it's actually been around near the beginning of DuckDuckGo, I'm not sure when exactly but probably sometime in early 2009. It's remained largely a hidden feature though until very recently when we started letting people know about it on the SERP and redesigned this dedicated introductory page. In short, people love it on all sides (users, sites, us).
This is brilliant innovation. When you set DDG as your default search engine, you can use "!a candle wicks" in your URL bar to jump directly to the amazon search results. Bypass DDG and the "search" page entirely.
Nice one! Would be really helpful also to search in multiple sources at once, like !facebook !twitter !linkedin within the interface, without being redirected to the sources
I like using DDG but it's missing the search filters that I often use.
On Google, I can filter my results by date, I don't think DDG has this (if it does, pls let me know). I can search by image size or news articles or books, etc.
I really want to move away from Google completely but I'm not able to make DDG my default yet.
Great to see those improvements. However, I m not there, yet... I had a few test weeks with DDG and still, search results where not as good as on Google (in my own humble opinion) and I had, to often, jump back to Google to find stuff I searched for. I'll watch you guys and hope you succeed. We need a strong competitor to Google and I believe you guys can do what the Bings and Yahoos could not. Keep up the good work!
