I started off building a couple of static sites with Jekyll...and then I discovered eleventy and haven't looked back. It has evolved to be an excellent tool for building static sites, but also includes edge function capability. Combined with GitHub and Netlify, site builds and deployments are wonderfully simple. The list of template languages supported is lengthy and you can even bring your own. I have not built anything terribly complicated with it, but am learning more about what's possible all the time.
Working with 11ty is a joy. It has enough opinions and infrastructure to keep you moving forward but too much to hamper your ambitions. Thanks to the incredible community, the plugin ecosystem is surprisingly robust, and I've found much of what I need. There are also enough hooks and extension points to make building your own relatively straightforward. Did I mention it was fast? IT'S FAST!
11ty is an amazing tool that I use for my personal site and am incredibly happy with it. Super fast from a website performance point of view and has all the features I need and more. Great job Zach and everyone involved!

11ty has been a great learning experience for me. The community has been helpful. Send a tweet and you'll get an answer that actually works. A layperson like me does not use many of the features like WebC, Eleventy Edge, etc, but to read what the experienced people say it's pretty cool. To sum it up, it's fast, and fast. Fast plus easy to deploy is what people want. Zach and all that contribute have made a great product. On a side note there are tons of starters available. Download one and play around with it. That's all I got to say. Enjoy your developing.
Eleventy is now my go-to tool whenever I make a new site. It is fast, plays well with other tools and API's and with serverless & edge you can achieve pretty much anything you might want to.
