Does this connect to your bank and credit card accounts to automatically import your data, or do you have to add every transaction by hand?

it's all by hand. mostly for ppl trying to get a sense of their ongoing expenses following a mentor/coacher's advice (I'm a 1-person team and don't have the resources to fire up servers, ensure security...)
you can however import your data from a CSV file - it detects/organizes the data automatically :) you're welcome to give it a try!

Does it automatically sync from my accounts like Mint? If not, I would find it hard to use as an actual expense / budgeting app, despite the amazing UX and useful features

sorry but no bank/account sync (it's just me working on this so I don't have the resources to maintain servers and ensure security for this) :/
you can however import your statement (CSV), it works pretty well :)
