I don't get the buzz around wireless charging. What's the benefit of it since when you want to use the phone, you can't grab it, it needs to rest on top of the charging surface or it will stop charging. A power cord at least let me grab the phone
@kzynakamura charge on a wide surface and not just over a point; charge as many devices as there is space on the pad; same speed as classic chargers and no powerlosses; no electromagnetic wave; and much more powerful (soon compatible with laptops ;) )
@timothee Nice! Really want to back it, but 35€ to ship to Switzerland seems excessive... Is there a reason for that price, or is it just because it's not in EU?
@nathanaelkhodl Yes we put 15€ for UE and we forgot to put Switzerland in it.. What we can do to solve it: back the project with no rewards and Early Bird price + 15€ delivery, write us a message on Kickstarter and we'll take note of it in our customer file to send you a pad in Switzerland :)
@timothee@sayginburak What about SONY phones? They have the USB charging on the left side. Wouldn't the charging stripe be too long? Besides SONY smartphones have a little cover for the USB port because of water resistance. Do you have any solutions for that?
@obaidr@sayginburak We are designing a special sticker for Sony phones, with a form in "L", we'll update it soon in our page. Unfortunately the cover has to be open while the sticker is installed
@chezacke thanks! And we're developing an open source standard so that anyone can make theirs devices "energysquare compatible" (laptops, portable speakers, lights.."
I dig the idea. A unobtrusive way to make your phones wirelessly chargeable but as with a few kickstarters previously, the amount for shipping is too high.
I have a magnet on the back of my iPhone 6 for my car mount. Would I still be able to use this? Does the EnergySquare strip have to be installed right in the center of the back, or could it also be located off-center? Pardon ignorance on how this works :-) I love the idea, can't wait to back it!
@laurenlperfors thanks for your enthusiasm! The strip is flexible so it depends on how thin your magnet is. the strip can be off-centered, and we are working on different designs to fit the best every kind of smartphone :)
Hi everyone!
I'm Timothée, one of the cofounders of Energysquare! It's a new generation of wireless chargers that will allow you to charge multiple devices at the same speed as classic chargers, just by placing it on an ultra-thin pad. No induction, no electromagnetic waves, we are using our own patented conductive charging technology!
I'll be happy to answer to your questions!
Super impressed! Haven't really considered wireless charging for my iPhone yet, but might just go for it now. Do you have plans for different shaped stickers? If you could adapt them into certain shapes etc, I'm sure you'd win over the crowd who're really precious over their cases. Great job.
@cameradam_ thank you so much for your comment! We're working on different shapes, to be tailored to any kind of smartphones. Working on manufacturing cases too with the conductive dots directly integrated in it!
