This product was born out of frustration with most of the existing business valuation tools available online. Not only we could not find a specific valuation tool for Shopify stores (let alone native Shopify App for business valuation) - most of the available chatbots and shinny offers from various brokers take up a lot of your time resulting in questionable outcomes... So we built it. Native embedded Shopify App available right within the admin panel. Whilst we opted for a minimalistic design and simplicity of the interface, we supported our tool with a powerful algorithm that keeps updating its key assumptions feeding on publicly available information from a variety of online platforms where active selling and buying of Shopify Stores is happening on a daily basis. We therefore don't stop at giving you a one-off valuation range but happy to keep you in the know of your Shopify business value evolution - be sure to get back and refresh your valuation to see what it lands. Oh, forgot to mention a small but important detail... EpsiVal business valuation app is free for all Shopify merchants. Now, all that buzz around the tech is great but let's talk about the foundation. I think it's important to explain what business valuation actually is and why do we need to know it. Simply put, it's the fair market value of your business or the combined worth of assets and cash flows that your business generates. It's worth knowing your business valuation if you are raising funds or looking to sell your business. You may also be curious to know what all that blood, sweat, and tears are worth in monetary terms. The reasons are clear but how about the approach as one can find different ways of deriving value of a business. Let me explain the foundations of our approach to calculating business valuation. To begin with, we have accumulated a comprehensive dataset of key performance indicators for e-commerce businesses and have undertaken numerous valuation exercises using the Discounted Cash Flow method (DCF). This method projects future cash flows and discounts them according to the rate of monetary depreciation (inflation rate). With an ample amount of data in our possession, we have formulated a simplified algorithm that empowers us to determine business valuation by utilizing information from online store transactions. We are at the very beginning of our journey with a solid roadmap of different features and improvements some of our early adopters have kindly helped us to create. We are all eyes and ears - looking forward to your feedback and suggestions. We really want to build a great valuation tool that Shopify merchants find helpful and insightful.

Congrats on the launch! Looks like a good start. Self-explanatory and easy to navigate Shopify app to derive a high-level valuation range. I noticed EpsiVal app has a refresh valuation option which is great. It's a shame that one cannot see a dynamic evolution of their valuation though - is there any way to demonstrate that visually ?

Just upvoted seems like it'll do the math without making my head spin. That 'single input' magic feels like it could be a game-changer for busy shop owners. But this whole one-click valuation has me wondering. How deep does it dig to understand the quirks and perks of individual businesses?

@aman_wen thank you Aman. You’re spot on regarding simplicity of the interface/user experience. The algorithm is solid as it relies on real life examples (market data) and also has been verified through discounted cash flow method to ensure valuation ranges aren’t far from the underlying cash flow generation of the business. The tool is of course a relatively crude instrument so to take all the specifics of one’s business into account you’d need to run a bespoke valuation model which is difficult to automate.
