Hi hunters šŸ‘‹ Iā€™m Bobby, and today Iā€™m excited to announce the launch of Dashboards by Equals. Weā€™re shipping the most flexible way for your team to build dashboards, in a format that feels familiar to everyone: a spreadsheet. With this launch, you can: šŸ“Š Build beautiful dashboards directly in an Equals spreadsheet šŸ” Set your charts and tables to ā€œauto-expand.ā€ No need to drag formulas down ā€” as your underlying data updates, so do your visuals šŸ”Œ Directly connect to your live data, from SQL databases to tools like Hubspot and Stripe. Neatly tie together different data sources in one view āž° Build infinitely flexible dashboards using spreadsheet formulas you already know. Format them just like you would a spreadsheet šŸŽØ Customize and organize your dashboard as you see fit. Snap your charts to a grid for a tidy look šŸš€ Share and build with your whole team to drive better, faster decisions My co-founder Ben and I experienced the problems with traditional dashboards first-hand during our years of growing Intercom from $1M to $100M+. šŸŒ± For early-stage founders, youā€™re expected to maintain an unnecessarily complicated and expensive data stack (think Fivetran, Snowflake, dbt) just to get all of your data sources in one place šŸŒæ For growth-stage operators, BI tools like Looker or Tableau end up with a steep learning curve and low ability to self-serve ā€” plus, whenever you want to dig deeper, you just download your data straight into a spreadsheet Thatā€™s why we set out to build a more flexible way of creating dashboards for your team, in a tool that everyone feels comfortable accessing. Weā€™re excited to hear your feedback, and canā€™t wait to share more!

@bobbypinero Congrats on the launch, good job on Equals. Spreadsheets are always the most intuitive way to handle data, and Equals creatively improve the efficiency of BI workflow. In addition, after a short visit to the official website of Equals , I find far more powerful features than this launch :) , nice work!

Hey people! Congrats on the recent launch of Dashboards by Equals on Product Hunt! šŸŽ‰ Great tool! You just took an existing solution and made it better! Love these cases. I see that Dashboards by Equals is free. Tell me please what is your business model? How are you going to earn money?
Bobby Pinero
@denis_galka, thanks! Appreciate your support. We have a free version of the product, which includes up to three editors, unlimited workbooks, dashboards, connections, query runs, and viewers. Our paid plan starts at $18 per editor per month, once you have more than three editors. As you can see, our free plan is quite generous :) We wanted to make sure that users can experience the value of Equals right off the bat, without needing to commit to a paid plan first. Excited to hear your feedback!

Congrats on the launch of Dashboards by Equals! šŸŽ‰ So excited to see how this new, flexible way of creating dashboards is going to revolutionize the way teams work together. Could you tell me a bit more about the ways this product differs from traditional BI tools? And, how can teams best utilize Dashboards by Equals? šŸ¤© I'm sure this launch is going to be a huge success! šŸ’Æ

@paolo_degiglio thanks! Great questions. Iā€™ve used many traditional BI tools first-hand, and have found tools like Looker and Tableau to have a steep learning curve and low ability to self-serve. Instead of having the whole team collaborate to build dashboards, the Analytics team takes on the brunt of that work, with a backlog of dashboards they need to create for others. We built dashboards within an Equals spreadsheet so that thereā€™s no learning curve ā€” everyone knows how to use a spreadsheet, so your whole team can craft dashboards together. Plus, if you ever want to dig deeper into your data, youā€™d normally download it from your BI tool -> a spreadsheet. We help you skip that step. To answer your second question: a ton of ways! We pulled together this simple template for how to build a dashboard using GA data (https://equals.app/templates/ga-...) but you can imagine hooking into a database or any other SaaS tool (like Stripe, Salesforce, or Hubspot) and pulling together the charts and tables your team needs to track on a regular basis. Things like sales over time, leads over time, MRR or ARR builds and how theyā€™re trendingā€¦ all possible to visualize in your Equals dashboard.

This looks like a really cool product, Bobby. What made you decide that this kind of spreadsheet-based approach was the best way to go about creating a dashboard versus other types of visualizations?
Bobby Pinero
@heyumarkhan, great question! Equals started with the premise that the spreadsheet *is* the best way to do analysis. Itā€™s the most flexible canvas to build any model or report. Build exactly what you need to look at your business. The spreadsheetā€™s superpower is its flexibility. Plus, zero learning curve. Everyone already knows how to use a spreadsheet. Having tried so many BI tools over the years, Iā€™ve found them to be inflexible. Rigid. Hard to learn. Oftentimes requiring you to do all sorts of SQL gymnastics to get a report to look exactly how you want. When you could build the table or chart in exactly the way you want to look at it within minutes in a spreadsheet. Iā€™ve always dreamt of a tool that combined the flexibility of a spreadsheet with the automation of a BI tool. You can build the visualizations you need, but in a tool that everyone knows how to use. When you need to dig deeper into the data, youā€™re in the right place ā€“ youā€™re already in a spreadsheet. Thatā€™s what weā€™re launching today. Appreciate your support, and excited to hear what you think!
