This feels like it should be native to iOS or Android.. it's a seamless way to track where you've been and share with the people you love. I've seen a lot of companies try to do things like this but Esplorio wins in my book for its battery efficiency, design, and easy searching. It's a perfect way to track & share your upcoming holiday trips!

@gillianim Thanks so much! Since we were last hunted, we’ve been in constant touch with our users to learn how to best improve the app and have built a tonne of new features in Esplorio 2.0, making sure it’s the best way to help people record and share their travels 😀 Of all the new features, the two that things we’re most excited about are: - My Places: A way for users to browse/search all the places they’ve visited in the past. - Arc Detection: We’ve built a unique new system that has the highest quality GPS tracking and lowest battery usage of any other app of its kind. http://giphy.com/gifs/tony-stark... On top of that, we’ve made changes throughout the app to make your content stand out, plus new views like a 3D globe view of your trip, and tonnes of changes to make the experience of using Esplorio seamless.

@loudijk Thanks Lex :D :D
Paul Kemp
A great effort to the makers. After travelling around Asia over the summer, I'm excited to use Esplorio for my travel adventures in 2017
Essa Saulat
@paul_s_kemp Thanks Paul :D Sounds like you have a fun 2017 planned! Remember, you can still retroactively create your trip to Asia using past iPhone photos and through past social media content :D All you have to do is enter the start/end dates and Esplorio will bring together all the content from that range to create a trip ✈️🌏

I'm going on a trip over Christmas where I won't have much WiFi/Data. Would Esplorio work in that kind of situation?
Tim Fernando
Hi @jonbstrong, absolutely. Esplorio will work offline without a data connection for weeks at a time. We keep your data stored offline and then sort it out when you get access to wifi or are back on your home network. So you get all the features including automatic place detection without any roaming bills :-)

Here’s an example of some guys who used it when driving a Toyota Yaris to Mongolia with _very_ limited data! https://esplor.io/eastern-ramble...
Essa Saulat
@jonbstrong We also tried the app at 10,000 feet without any mobile signal and it still worked, as you can see here https://esplor.io/famanson/flyin... :D
Alexander
Great product! There is something is not working correctly for me at least: clicking on "+ Add Intergrations" crashes the app. PS: I like the cat :D
Tim Fernando
@alexsnurnikov thank for writing. Sorry about the button - we noticed that a couple of hours after it went live :-( However we've got a build coming through in hopefully < 24hrs (it has been with Apple for a few hours now) which fixes that. In the mean time you can still add integrations by hitting "settings" and then "add integrations". Glad you like the cat, his name is Polo and is drawn by my better half @efjmc http://emily.gd. We're hoping to have a bit more of him in the future if Emily can find more time :-)
Doug Hunter
Such a great idea. Love it. Why hasn't this been done so well before?!
Tim Fernando
Thanks @hunterdoug, really flattered 🙂 We think it's a pretty tough problem - we have built a lot of custom tech to solve the problems we've faced, everything from building our own reverse geocoder, custom timezone management (*biggest nightmare ever* - did you know you can go _forward_ in time when flying West in Brazil?!), image resizer, queueing system and of course the low power tracking and UI that handles thousands of data points but generally manages 60fps rendering.
Lisa Dziuba
Awesome product!
Tim Fernando
@lisadziuba thanks Lisa! We've started using Flawless too, really helpful!
Markus
I'm not normally that photo guy. But this is just cool. There are so many amazing data visualisations etc. "hidden" away in Esplorio. Really good job. Gave Esplorio a test with the amazingly sexy task of ... travel expenses :D (just snap those receipts) ... and it works like a charm! What else (that it is completely not designed for) should I throw at it?
Essa Saulat
@lemakkan Hah! Awesome idea actually :) It's crazy how many things people are doing with Esplorio! For example, one of our users uses it to record how many days he has been out of the UK (for visa purposes). A lot of users have actually been using public trips to decide where to go next :D What's really interesting is that hotels are also using Esplorio to showcase the trips their guests can take when they are staying with them https://esplor.io/kingsway-hall-... 😀
Markus
@essasaulat Awesome! A personal-log-of-where-I-actually-have-been is pretty neat. Has a bearing on visas, taxes, ... your carbon footprint 😬
Essa Saulat
@lemakkan Exactly! ✈️🌏👣
Tim Fernando
@lemakkan @essasaulat we've been getting a lot of feedback about this actually. I've been using it personally to help calculate my CO2 output when travelling, but people have been using it for insurance, hotels or even recording behind the scenes events at Grand Prix like Williams Martini Racing: https://esplor.io/williamsracing... (I love the photo of the trophy going through the security scanner at the airport)!
Donté Ledbetter
I love the storytelling feel to this.
Tim Fernando
Thanks @donte_ll! We have been thinking a lot about that and spending a lot of time refining it - the challenge has been to try and create something that works entirely automatically but at the same time gives you a story as opposed to just a moment in time. It's a bit of a cliché but we believe the journey is just as important as the destination. What's great is we've been finding engagement times to be really high and the feedback from our users is really nice (app store reviews have also been great), so it sounds like we're getting good at the storytelling part :-) But we're always trying to improve, so please let us know any thoughts!
Donté Ledbetter
@timfernando Keep up the good work! Another thing, can a user share a trip with people who don't have the app installed? In the other words, would my Facebook friends be able to view my trip?
Tim Fernando
@donte_ll thanks, really appreciate you taking the time! Absolutely, you can share via a private link or publicly - the latter will have a readable slug and be visible to search engines. We support FB metadata, as well as Twitter and embeds Here's a recent example of a team & friends get together in Italy :-) https://esplor.io/famanson/belli...
Arnab Kar
Great job! Was wondering if you can update the IG icon on your website... Cheers!
Tim Fernando
@arnabkar47 Thanks Arnab! Also thanks for spotting the old logo, I've just changed and uploaded it :-)
Perry Roper
I've been using Esplorio for over a year now now with the TripIt integration (can't recommend that feature enough). The battery life is incredible and keeps getting better, it still uses no more than 2% in a day, which is _so_ worth it. This release looks great, keep up the great work, can't wait to see what else you have in store for us 😃
Essa Saulat
@perryroper Thank you so much! Really appreciate it
Sean Pham
@perryroper Speaking of integrations, for anybody Tripcase users around here, we have integrations with that platform as well :D
Mashall Khattak
Esplorio 2.0 is super useful and the design is great! Definite must use for every blogger out there
Essa Saulat
@mashallkhattak Thanks! :D :D
Vaibhav Krishna
Have been following your journey from the beginning and glad to see the evolution of Esplorio :) Good luck @essasaulat and team.
Essa Saulat
@riskr Thank you so much! We have even more exciting things coming in the months ahead, so do keep an eye out for our feature announcements :D
Ashutosh Singh Rawat
A refined interface. 👍 Like the low battery 🔋 usage (will have to test it though). With Google Trips App (for planning) and Esplorio (for documenting) my travel app stack looks nearly complete!
Essa Saulat
@ashutosh508 Thanks! Glad you like it so much :) When you are testing it, do keep in touch via the feedback button :D We'd love to hear how things go and how we can improve things further!
Samuel Cardillo Lespes
Amazing product, amazing team, amazing features! This is a killer app and it seems hard to believe that it is not part of any native mobile system yet!
Essa Saulat
@samuelcardillo Thanks so much :D Really appreciate it!
Craig Lee
Esplorio is the BEST way to create memories of great experiences. More flexible and intelligent than Google Photos. And I like being able to add notes and include tweets and posts. A definite app to have!
Tim Fernando
@craig_lee thanks for the kind words! We always love to be compared to the big guys. I think we're quite proud of our timezones management - probably because it's something we as a team have collectively lost a lot of hair over. The plus side is that we do appear to handle peoples' photos in different timezones better than Apple's own Photos app :-)
Krisztián Vértes
Hi, thank you so much for all the work you've put in your app! I just downloaded it and will definitely give it a try. I've been a Moves user since day one and have 4 years worth of Moves location data, but its been neglected and left behind lately, so I'm on a lookout for a replacement. I really like your app's layout and overall feel to it, if you could just somehow integrate my Moves data I've already collected?! It would be wonderful! Anyway, it is just an idea, but Momento journal has it, so it can be done and you have all these other apps we can import data from... anyway, good luck with the development, keep up the good work!
Tim Fernando
@euergetes thanks for commenting and your kind words! That's a good question and actually one we've had from dozens of people in the same situation, we've actually got Moves integration on our backlog but as you've reminded me about it it's something I'll try and push up the list. Our system should already be technically able to handle the locations, but would you like other parts of Moves data too?
Krisztián Vértes
@timfernando @timfernando wow, this is fantastic news indeed! I always liked how Moves just collects data in the background and "knows" the places you've been befor, so you don't have to interact with it too much. The problem has always been with extracting that data. There is no search, tags, charts, only the day by day time log. If you could somehow get the places from Moves and integrate it to your timeline for past entries and maybe make it searchable, I'd be completely sold.
Krisztián Vértes
@timfernando I never cared for the fitness aspect of Moves though, there are better apps and devices for that, but my Moves places are invaluable sources for me for where I've been. As you probably know Moves integrates with services such as Move-O-Scope, that is able to indicate you movements for entire Months and Years over a regular map, now something like that would be great to have in an app. Well of course basic integration would be already a huge step up for my purpose, not to mention the ability to attach notes and photos, which you already do in a beautiful manner! Anyway, just a little food for tought, in the meantime I'm really excited about the possibility to switch to your app! Thanks for the quick response, by the way, and good luck guys!
Tim Fernando
@euergetes that's really interesting and really helpful, thanks! We had been a bit cautious to move on Moves (pardon the pun) because we weren't sure if people will want the health data integrated too - but I think most, like you, might only care about the places rather than the health especially as much of that comes "for free" from things like the Health app these days. I've made a new ticket in our tracker to look at Moves. I'm hoping we might be able to push this out in the next month or two if the data we get back is compatible :-) By the way the web version of Esplorio also has something called Travelgraphs and Badges (coming soon to iOS too). These show you your travels on a yearly basis and give you some achievements for visiting certain places.
Krisztián Vértes
@timfernando oh, I didn't know you had a web version as well! Rock on! I like what I hear more and more, I start to feel sorry about not discovering your app sooner! Well if you'd really look into that Moves integration... 😄 Best of luck and thanks for all the info! Once again, good luck with development! Cheers!
Perttu Talasniemi
Looks very interesting. 🙂
Tim Fernando
@imakesoft thanks Perttu! If you get a chance to try it out, we'd really appreciate your thoughts :-)
Scott Entwistle
Great job @essasaulat! I have downloaded and played with the app and I particularly really love the ability to just set a trip up by dates, and then photos are automatically collected in those time frames. Why in the world would a native photo app not have that ability?! It's amazing One thing I've noticed over these last days noticed is that the app picks very random businesses that I'm either driving by, or maybe are near my home. Are you planning to add a "home" setting to cut out that noise? Even with home, that still happens when you're out - the app just tries to assign any business that's nearby. Do you have a plan to tackle that? It's a little annoying going back and deleting a bunch of automatically tagged locations because they're places you didn't go to!
Tim Fernando
@scawtent @essasaulat Thanks for the kind words Scott! Glad you're enjoying it :-) How are you finding "My Places" by the way? RE: the random businesses - sorry about that, it happens in some places more than others, but we do actually have two rather neat (I think) features that combine auto-learning and some UI changes. Stay tuned! In the mean time you can bulk edit in trips - so if you edit the location of one place it will ask you if you'd like to change all of the places marked with the same location in that trip.
Leanne Beesley
This is looking great, love all the new features added since Esplorio first launched!
Sean Pham
@leanne_beesley Thank you!! :D
Robyn Chang
Yes I'm SO LAZY. I hope this alleviates the guilt of not updating my dumb travel Tumblr.
Essa Saulat
@robynchaaang Hah! Yes it gets rid of 100% of Tumblr guilt :D The other thing is that since it records routes, places AND photos, your Esplorio trips will have a tonne more detail :D
