Eureka helps people with Long Covid discover new treatments, track if they’re working or not, and recover faster. Follow one of our science-backed protocols to improve symptoms and track your progress in the app. Together, we’re helping each other get better and accelerating research.

Co-founder here. Five years ago, my mom was diagnosed with a chronic, incurable neurological disease. Her doctors were great at prescribing pharmaceuticals but her real quality-of-life breakthroughs came from posts in forums and patient communities, from other people suffering with the same disease. Many of these breakthroughs were supplements and lifestyle changes to mitigate her symptoms — things with insufficient profit margins to justify running the trials that convince conservative doctors. I took a data-driven approach to helping her feel better. We religiously tracked symptoms in a spreadsheet, tried interventions that seemed to be helping others, and measured her progression the best we could. It was hard. Eureka is the app I wish existed on day 1 of her disease. We're starting in Long Covid but will expand to other chronic conditions soon. If you think Eureka could be useful for your care journey, I'd love to hear from you.

@zain Hi all! I'm Noah, the other co-founder of Eureka. 👋 After seeing firsthand family and friends struggle with chronic disease, it became obvious that there's a huge need, and a huge opportunity. Modern medicine has few answers and no cures for many of these diseases (especially Long Covid). On the other hand, patients know a lot. They're reading research papers, they're trying things, they're self-organizing, and in some cases they're even able to figure out how to get better on their own. But they're using Twitter, Slack, and Reddit, and don't have the tools to really start generating new research-grade knowledge. We're here to arm the rebels. We have two simple goals 1. 💪 Make it easier to help yourself get better. Easily learn what treatments are working on people with similar symptoms as you, with more data on what works than you can find in even the best studies. Then, use the most powerful tools for self-experimentation available so you can see what works for you. 2. 🎁 Make it easy to give back. Every time someone tries a new protocol, it's an opportunity for everyone to learn, but everyone's currently operating in isolation. Everyone wants to help the community, but it's hard to plug in to the larger system and contribute. Today's launch is a big moment for us. The Eureka Hub, with the Eureka App, make it dramatically easier for people to feel better. We're starting small, but we can't wait to see how the community responds, and as people add their data, it only gets better from here. Long Covid is a true crisis, a mass-disabling event that's impacting millions but flying under the radar because people are tired of talking about Covid. Millions are out of work and housebound, many of whom were young, healthy and active beforehand. We hope to play a role helping spread the great knowledge already within the community, and accelerating the discovery of badly needed cures. Thanks for reading, excited to hear what you think! 💜

I know a few people struggling with Long Covid, and have recommended Eureka to them. So far the results have been really impressive. It's a super beautifully-designed app too!

Congrats on the launch! This is incredibly useful.

Congrats @noahmacca and @zain This is such an important mission and having the community learn and share whats working is much needed esp given how broken the current system is for people with Long Covid! Keep arming the rebel alliance.

This seems like a really valuable tool. Will definitely recommend to friends battling with Long Covid. @zain @noah_maccallum1 - Running trials is notoriously difficult over time. I'm somewhat of a biohacker but find it really hard to keep tracking everything I do beyond a 1-2 weeks... How are you approaching keeping your users engaged long enough to see actual results?
Noah MacCallum
@zain @kallefreese it's a great question. I think there are a few components to it * Be hypothesis-driven: try to track a small-ish number of things that you expect to have a real impact * Make it really easy: even small amounts of friction really add up * Give back value as much as possible on the way: there are so many potential insights from wearable + self-reported data, and we keep you engaged by dripping new insights and results every few days It's surprising, but if something really has a big impact, it can show up in the data in the first 4-7 days of usage. It's really nice having the analysis automated, too - in my past personal tracking projects "fire up the jupyter notebook and look at the data" was always on my backlog and I almost never did it

Everyone has that friend or relative w/ the long-standing mysterious illness that they just can't figure out. I feel like this is the platform what CrowdMed *could've* been. Super excited to see what medical mysteries Eureka solves

The experiment addict in me just got really excited.

Long Covid is something that is terrifying to have, especially given how little is known about effective treatment over time. This is a really exciting launch that could empower people in an otherwise really difficult and frustrating situation. Go team!

Congrats on the launch! Proud to see this come to life. Eureka will help so many.

Congrats on the launch @zain!

This is so important and glad that it's out there for more people to benefit from!

Checked Eureka out and it's awesome! I'm optimistic that community is such a powerful force in helping folks navigate through chronic disease. Kudos to the team for making this happen!

Congrats on the launch!

Very cool!!

The traditional approach to curing/treating rare diseases is very slow, with complex economic issues! Such a "citizen scientist" tool may allow people to find what works for them before an official and widely tested protocol is established Congrats on launch!!

Congrats on the launch! Know people who struggle with Long Covid and it can be really hard to manage without a structured approach to healing. Thanks for building a better way!

I love the mission of this product -- I have used personal tracking in the past to find foods that disagree with my sleep, but there's no really targeted or well-designed solution for tracking these tests & I had to do a lot of manual work. I think this will help a lot of folks!
Jonathan Johnson
This is wonderful — a much needed solution for an underserved (and oft-ignored) cohort of folks out there (anyone suffering from a chronic illness). All the best with this!

@zain @noah_maccallum1 This would be helping aa lot of people, kudos to the team
