I love shopping on this site. Only site I know with an actual 'credenza' category/

Great team, that are dedicated to providing an incredible user experience. I've never listed an estate sale, but from I've heard the EBTH team handles each sale with professionalism and reverence.

Pros:

A wide variety of items, accurately labeled and described.

Cons:

Other people may want the same item, which drives up the price (as with all auctions)

A friend used EBTH for an estate sale, and she had a fantastic experience.

@sandracarden That is great to hear, thanks for sharing!

I used to be addicted to EBTH for local estate sales but then they started sending everything up to Blue Ash, Ohio. Now if you see something in a local estate sale that should be inexpensive, you have to pay crazy shipping fees that far exceed the value of the item. The only thing you can pick up for free now is the large furniture. I used to recommend EBTH to everyone, but now I have to warn them about it since these changes. Since the makers are on here, can you explain why this change was made? It used to be great to get good deals on items when you could pick them up for free. I've been seeing a lot of things I'd be interested in having, that no one is bidding on because of the shipping costs.

@oprylamb Shipping is one of the most complicated parts of our business! Every item we sell needs to be individually packed, and the labor and materials alone can cost up to $20-$30. Even when we left items in their local markets, more than half shipped. Driving the packing and shipping costs down is a major focus for us, and was a big reason we bagan moving more items to a centralized processing facility. That change has allowed us to lower shipping fees by around 30%. Our item values have also continued to rise during this transition, resulting in higher proceeds for our sellers. Thanks for your interest, and happy bidding!

Awesome platform. Great team. Smart, tech-enabled business model. Offers exceptional look at the items for sale. High quality seller and bidder experience.

Pros:

Exceptional inventory of unique finds. Phenomenal pics and descriptions. Can't lose out due to last second bids like other bidding sites.

Cons:

Browsing can be addictive. Possibly a huge time waster if you're not careful.

Absolutely gorgeous pics of items for bid and fantastic descriptions. Love the buyer user experience overall. @uhlenbrock: The winning bid process is a bit different than other bidding platforms where you often lose out to a last second bidder, no? Can you talk about the tech that enables that?
Bobby Uhlenbrock
@todd_henderson Thanks for the kind words, the operations folks work really hard to make every item look as great as possible. Our auction format is very traditional and is meant to mirror a live, in-person auction. Every time a bid is placed we ensure that that there are at least 5 minutes left for other bidders to get a notification and place another bid. We think this is much more fair for everyone involved.

Gorgeous product photography. Nicely organized. It was ten minutes between when I had downloaded it and when I made my first bid.

Buyer beware. I had a very negative experience recently (and as of this date, it still has not been resolved). I received 8 dink f chairs that were presented in pics and in the description of being in fair condition. They showed one repairs which was done in one of the chairs which was acceptable to us. Once we received the chairs, we were shocked that they were glued together and missing wood and contained gouged wood and rotted fragments (they were, essentially, in very poor condition). After calling customer service immediately upon inspection, and several follow up calls...I did not get it ouch with anyone until I was transferred (4 days later) to Stephen in customer service. He who was rude, dismissive and basically told me he would do nothing as it was only “my opinion” and they would not do anything about it, despite the photos I offered to send him which evidenced the discordance between what I received and how they were marketed on the website. I Am currently in the process of working with another EBTH employee to resolve. We’re not only out the money we bid, additionally my husband and I had to undergo the expense of taking time off of work and to get a truck to pick up there items from the warehouse. BUYER BEWARE.

Pros:

Some good bargains ONLY if you know what to look for and you are aware of quality and condition.

Cons:

If You have an issue, customer service is non-existent. condition of items is often misrepresented on their web site and omitted in photos.

In September 2021 I purchased item - (ITMG936497) Bottega Veneta Matte Silver Tone Mirrored Aviators from Ebth.  An online auction.  The item was defective.  I bought the item to my local Bottega Veneta store located in Miami to see if anything could be done.  They contacted their headquarters in Italy and reported back to me that the glasses I bought were counterfeit.  EBTH refuses to acknowledge this and insisted that I take my time to contact Bottega Veneta again and get the information in "Writing".  I do not believe it is my roll as the buyer to prove that this product is a counterfeit since I have already spent too much of my time on the purchase.  I supplied the Name and Address for EBTH to follow up on the info they required but they refused.  Buyer beware when buying brand named product from the company with no integrity and unknowledgeable "Experts."

nice work. reminds me of how nasty girl started out: find crap on ebay and then take amazing photos or model the items. worked like a charm. curious to learn more about how you handle shipping for large items - including freight fees. i don’t see much obvious info around shipping fees, but perhaps i’m missing something...
Bobby Uhlenbrock
@passingnotes As we list every item for sale, we also collect shipping measurements. That allows us to provide accurate quotes during the bidding process. For large items, we use a network of national blanket wrap carriers. If you’re looking at an item on the site, there is a shipping quote box on the right hand side. At the bottom there is a link to learn more about our various shipping methods.
