Fabric is an effortless digital journal for the moments in your life. It captures the places you go, the people you meet, and the things you do. The latest version features an editable timeline, shared moments, and a search engine for your life.

Oh, and you can import your data from Moves before it shuts down! (https://web.fabric.me/moves)

➕ Super simple on-boarding ➕ Moments & Conversation feature ➕ Map Overlay Icons with images ➕ Week in Review feature ➕ Place verification feature with address estimation ➕ Efficient Battery Usage ➖ Map looks like it's disabled on the home screen ➖ Bug where it draws straight lines from one point to another on the map ⛔️ No Android app 😭 Overall, love the collaborative elements of this app. I do prefer Google maps' day by day view but that might just be me 😀. Also, it would be nice if you could guesstimate the mode of travel. And like someone mentioned, it might make sense to allow users to receive a notification EOD to update their daily journal 👍.

@_theimmortal_, thank you! We're feeling the pain of having no Android offering as well. If you could possibly spare a second and still see these, would you mind emailing screenshots of the two map views you mention to feedback@echo.works?

Hi, do you provide an API (a la Moves) or a ways to easily export data (again, a la Moves)?
David Lung
Best app ever!

Huge fan of product and the team.

Pros:

Negligible hit to battery

Cons:

Wish more friends were using it

Been using Fabric for over a year now and this latest update supercharges it. This major upgrade has all the memory focused features of the past versions as well as social and search components that make the app my goto place to search through things I did, places I visited and friends I was with in the past. Congrats on the launch folks!

It's dead now. How to mark a product dead in ProductHunt??

Excellent and beautiful product.

How are the data flows managed? Are you thinking about moving towards solutions like https://hatdex.org/ in order to empower the users with their personal data?
nikolayv
@francesco_bellanca, great question! It's a key part of our vision to constantly be bringing new tech to the data components, so as to keep the users' information 100% safe and in their control. Not familiar with HATDex yet, but a few things we can share on this front are: - We use our own in-house location tracking system, as opposed to many other products that will use a third-party solution. So location always stays with us. - Your user profile kind of data, e.g. email, login credentials is stored in a separate database from the rest of your data. - We don't share personally identifiable information with third parties.

@nikolayv Sorry for the slow reply and thank you for the answer :) Micro service infrastructure or other solutions to decentralise the information give the actual power and security to the users and that is an interesting way to move forward with scalably secure solutions. Saying that you will be nice about the data is totally true and believable but everyone can make mistakes no? Sorry for the annoying questions and keep up the good work!

Fascinating! I love this idea. And elegantly executed. Do you have any specific suggestions for users who use it only as a diary? I am not keen on asking my friends to join something new.
Caitlyn Sit
@kelly_kikuchi Hi! Diary entries are really easy to make on Fabric. You can tap the "+" at the bottom to add a new entry or tap on a moment you'd like to add details to, then tap "expand". Personally, I've been adding details to specific moments (such as how I felt/what happened when I was at x place) instead of making reflective day entries. Though if you wanted to, you could also do reflective day entries. I like to use it more as a diary too, so while I add who I was with (to be able to search it later), I don't add them as collaborators and it all still stays private. Hope this was helpful!

Will you launch to android? Do you have any predictions?
Camila Tapernoux

Really helpful for things like photosharing and looking up the name of that one restaurant you went to that one time, and also great for nostalgia and reminiscing. Was a much better way to show my grandparents pics from recent trips and events than scrolling through my photoroll. Also barely affects battery life, which is fantastic!

Pros:

Makes it super easy to share photos with friends after an event or party; great way to keep track of favorite spots from vacations

If we ever get the chance to catch up and go for coffee we should! I thought you were awesome and hilarious! Glad to see your doing good making a name in the industry you go girl! I hope we went to high school together or ill just look weird like always, teenagers again right god kids were cruel back then sometimes. I like the fact that its private and i choose who to share my moments with. The map interface is really good. I love looking at the map that shows where i've so much. On a busy day sometimes you don't realize what all you did, who all you met and where you went but Fabric shows me how many moments i've had. Its great for vacations.

Pros:

Easy to use, great for vacations, really nice UI, lets you choose who to share with

Cons:

none

Love it! What I always wished Moves and Apple's Photo Stream would be - a better way to keep track of what I'm doing, organize my photos, and revisit my memories.

3-4 of my closest friends are using Fabric now. Since we reached that critical mass, we only use that for sharing. I am hoping to get my parents on Fabric, and then I have a one stop shop to share.

Pros:

App is super simple to use;

Love the week in review feature;

Super easy sharing;

Cons:

The experience when the other person doesn't have the app can be better
