Following Facebook's Instant Articles, Zuck and team continue to encourage people to distribute and publish content on their platform. I'm excited to give this a try, primarily to see what type of distribution it delivers.
P.S. Not surprised @bosefina is working on this, considering how much she loves to write (check out her posts on Medium).
@rrhoover Thanks for the continued support! It's truly magical to be working on something that resonates with my passions :) We hope people use notes to share their everyday moments, memories, stories, and points of view. For the times when you have something more to say, notes is here for you.
@rrhoover@bosefina Tried it just now for a page I manage and I love the rich text editor and such. Can't seem to boost it as a paid ad or am I missing something?
Really nice, clean execution. Props @bosefina and team! Already this is being compared to Medium frequently (a major compliment). Are there things that Medium (or other modern editors) zig that you intend to zag on?
As a writer I am incredibly excited for this!
Questions for @clowbrow@hellendag and @bosefina
1. Any plans for video integration?
2. Any plans for analytics in the future?
Here is my first note: https://www.facebook.com/notes/a...
Great work, loving it!
"We’re rolling out an update to make notes on Facebook more beautiful and customizable. Notes are now an even better way to write a longer post and share with anyone — whether it’s a small group of friends or everyone on Facebook."
That's like Medium for Facebook. Can't wait to try it. 🚀
Very cool stuff. Having FB *formally* support writers and open up their massive social graph to them is a big deal for anyone who wants to get their voice out.
I'm curious about how the reader experience will be. Specifically, how will pieces be surfaced and displayed?
Arguably Medium's most valuable feature is in how they surface the best content. It will be interesting to see if and how FB curates Notes content. More interesting is how they'll get around their own feed UI to help discovery -- FB will need to evaluate whether to keep Notes in their feed, or do something bold like Paper / Messenger and allow people to get out of the feed.
Curious to see if and how this product update drives behavior. Medium induces social sharing on multiple platforms, LinkedIn induces engagement within its own platform, and Facebook will...? Can't wait to see how Facebook Notes unfolds!
@melissajoykong I'm also interested to see how this changes the purpose of people visiting Facebook. Currently I would never go there to learn or read something interesting as Medium is the by far superior for that.
