Looks beautiful but not a whole lot different from the futuristic-looking concept cars other manufacturers show off at motor shows and which never get made.
"Our goal was to build a car with a sixth sense for its driver's intentions and needs. One with adaptive personalization, seamless transfer of custom vehicle configurations, access to live images, and real time data visualization." --@faradayfuture team.
The future is here. This car looks insane.
I am disappointed and the shy applause from the audience makes me believe that most of them were as well. The fact that they said "we will..." far more than "we have done...." makes this feel even more like #vaporware than just a concept.
@sajclarke frankly, it was an awful presentation. They were emphasizing all of the wrong things.
A big part of their press material was about revolutionizing mobility with autonomy and possibly even subscription service. Neither of those were mentioned in the keynote whatsoever. If it's a car for drivers (racers) then what's the point of autonomy anyway? The car showed no signs of having any of the necessary sensors to be autonomous, and they didn't go into any specifics of the business model.
I still have no idea why "chinese netflix" was involved besides the founder wanting to save the planet. And they pumped it up as them having some incredible alliances.
The valuable aspect of the company was their expertise and innovation on the universal chassis design, yet the demonstration product they made was entirely niche! They talked about the innovative dashboard and helmet systems, and didn't show either of them. they didn't demonstrate that this was a working prototype.
I think the only saving grace of the keynote was the videos that they played (one was already on their website). The production quality was excellent and the script in the video was much clearer and specific than the keynote itself.
I guess this is their high end early adopter car (ie. their roadster) that will give them the runway necessary to launch a more mainstream car next. The design is definitely unique and beautiful, but comes off as a bit too Formula 1 racecar to me, needs to be toned down.
If they intended to make me feel like I'm in a futuristic movie where there's mystery deaths, corporate corruption, and thrilling investigations by an attractive duo of a lawyerette and a security guard that just happened to be there they of the incident, they really succeeded.
If not, then meh it's all basically 100% marketing blabber.
Does anyone besides Faraday Future think there's anything here? To me it looks like concept art from 2003. Far from the "Tesla killer" the media was making it out to be. If that was their impression, they don't understand Tesla's intent.
Faraday Future are making a lot of big promises, but there's also BIG talent in that company. Will be interesting to see what they produce over the next few years. Also looking forward to Elon's inevitable salty reaction!
I've seen a car company before over promise and under deliver, oh yes they were called "Fisker" they are now in bankruptcy protection. Regardless goodluck inventing the future!
The thing about this is, no one is going to be buying a $300,000 Electric Super Car. Well, someone will. People bought Fiskers (unfortunately). Let's see them build a car that can compete with Tesla's range, but not be a boat. Make it fun to drive when you're in traffic (Tesla has not accomplished this).
Make a BMW of the Electric Car world, not a Hyundai shouting about how cool they are with all their technology. We spend most of our time in our cars alone. A car should be made to be fun and comfortable for the driver, but safe an elegant.
I don't care about the Bugatti Chiron, or the FF Zero1.
McClaren, Porsche, Ferarri, all made electric super cars already.
Show us a better daily driver.
This presentation was pretty painful – and I really hope they decide against docking your smartphone in the steering wheel. :) Much more intrigued by the other car silhouette they briefly showed.
