Fathom.fm is your AI podcast copilot. Get amazing recommendations, share your favorite clips, search INSIDE podcasts, read transcripts, navigate episodes using chapters, and so much more...It's a whole new way to experience podcasts!
Hey Product Hunt community!
We’re very excited to share Fathom.fm—a new AI-powered podcast experience. We call it the podcast player from the future and we really believe it. Fathom uses advanced machine learning algorithms to analyze your listening habits and suggest new podcasts that match your interests—your copilot for podcasts! What’s more, you can easily browse a podcast using dynamically generated chapters, save and share clips of your favorite moments—it’s awesome.
One of our most unique features, probably our favorite, is our AI-powered question-answer search. Search inside thousands of podcasts and find answers at the exact moment in a podcast—it’s amazing, and incredibly powerful.
We've been working hard, really hard, to make this player the best it can be, constantly improving the user experience, thinking of new ways of improving the listening experience from multiple angles. We also know there’s further to go and we really want you to join us on this adventure. Give it a try and let us know your feedback in the comments below. Thanks for checking it out!

Quick question, some podcasts (like mine - Analysis Paralysis by Efficient App) doesn't seem to index the transcript or search functionality which makes it tough when trying to reference and share to our customers, is there something we're doing wrong with how we're publishing it? We've made sure include the transcript in our podcast hosting provider, but that didn't seem to do it?
@alexhbass Thanks for taking the initiative here and adding the transcript in your RSS feed. We don't consume those just yet (all transcripts AI generated for now because our alignment is built into that pipeline, which allows for everything you see in the platform).
We'll normally kick off AI processing as soon as at least one Fathom user is following your podcast, but I'll take a look under the hood to kick up the processing so you get clips being auto-generated/transcripts/chapters. I got your email so I'll follow up with you there :)
@tntermini super interesting, that makes sense re: a user following the podcast, it's a smart way to not boil the ocean. Definitely at least 2 users following it (my business partner and I) and I don't think it has scraped it yet though.
Fathom has done for podcast discovery what I've been dreaming of. Podcasts are the #1 way I consume content, so to finally have a way to search the huge dataset of podcasts available to find what I'm trying to reference and share is incredible.
Can't wait for an Android app so I can use it as my daily player, but in the interim, I use it for discovery and searching for clips from podcasts I'm trying to reference and share. It's amazing 🤯
@alexhbass So glad you think so, Alex :) As mentioned in my comment above to @francis_santora, we'd love to ship for Android—but it's going to have to wait for now.
Glad the search on web is working for you! Improvements coming there shortly, too!
Congratulations on PH launch…Tried the app few weeks ago and liked that it has a nice clean interface. Loved the ability of playing random clips of podcasts which I find it very interesting in exploring the different podcasts. Podz did it the best but looking for alternatives after Spotify bought and closed it down. But I haven’t explored the question answer until today and man it is amazing. Excellent job on that.
Some of the annoying this were same podcast clips keep showing for many weeks in trending…I hope you guys make it a bit of main stream podcast player with bit of playlist management and download management. I listen most of my podcast in car so if you can make that experience I can say goodbye the Pocket Cast.
@nilsej Most people listen to podcast in the car, on the train, or on walks. Aka—in motion. This latest release saw the addition of downloads. What else in that area are you wanting?
We'd love to add a queue (designs already made for it) and custom playlists—especially since those playlists can be another source for the podcast search engine we built!
@tntermini I have found that a simple queue would also do a job. I imagine as soon I launch the app I am on the new episode list where I can scroll and listen to the clips and add the episodes I found interesting to listen to queue for later or continue there and then. There should be some way to automatically download the queued episodes.
Regarding car specially I would like to see CarPlay app but in the meanwhile atleast skip and back button should work same as any other audio playback from my phone. You guys can even make next clip and previous clip when I am listening to clips. Right now if I am connected it doesn’t do anything.
Love the new captions! Android app coming for us weirdoes? :P
Also, would be great to be able to just continue playing once the clip ends, all the way thru the end of the episode.
@francis_santora Thanks for the feedback, Francis! We've heard it go both ways: some want the clip to pick up playing the full episode after it ends, and others want to jump to the next clip. Everyone seems to want sound off 🔇 by default, though.
Sounds like you mostly find yourself diving all the way into a podcast after the clip ends?
@francis_santora Also I know last time I told you about Android we were actively working on it (which was true)—but after sizing up the economic downturn and having to scale down the team, we had to pump the brakes there.
We want to deliver it one day, but for now we're doing our best to validate every corner of the experience on iOS so that when it's time to build on Android, it's takeoff 🚀 :)
Thank you for being so patient!
the initiative is brilliant! Unfortunately, and even understanding a project like this needs more economical support, in my humble opinion validating the experience only in ios is a bad idea, even being a "forced" idea! The experience is already validated, and it is a great experience! ios or android are the boats to an amazing journey that needs to be launched accordingly! Definitely I will be following and supporting Fathom!
