I'm not an analytics guru. I don't love logging into Google Analytics. I'm a content creator who wants to see how many people visit my site, what pages they visit, and where people are coming from. I've been using GoSquared for years and appreciate how they put the most important analytics front and center (and hide all the confusing and not important stuff). But, paying $99/mo for GoSquared is too much for what I need. Really excited to have Fathom to replace GoSquared and keep me from having to login to Google Analytics!

Pros:

Only one site per pro account (for now!)

Paul and Danny proved their commitment to privacy by open sourcing the entire app so you can see exactly how it works and what data is stored. What other analytics service would do this? None. If you care about privacy, this is the only real option.

Do paid accounts work for multiple websites? If so, is there a limit to the number of sites added per paid account?

Only crucial element that's missing (for me) is channel / source breakdown based on UTM params. Beautifully simple interface. Most of GA's reports are terrible.

I like the approach Fathom has taken on analytics. By focusing on privacy I can now move away my statistics from a big company like Google but it also respects the privacy of my website's visitors. On top of that the reports load so quickly I initially felt like something wasn't working correctly!

Pros:

Great performance in loading reports (seriously fast), heavy focus on privacy.

Cons:

Product is still 'new'(ish), hasn't been tested in large scale yet.

This is what the world needs, in a moment of time where privacy isn't promoted as a unique selling point. Fathom does. Privacy friendly, high performing analytics, created by really smart and likable people.

Pros:

Easy to install, high performance code that is well written by a couple of really smart people. 💯

Cons:

Early days, so it needs a few more features for it to actually compete with the big boys.

I'm following the repository since I saw it on HN a while ago. Pretty excited to see the quick progress so far and always great to have one more privacy focused analytics alternative out there. The closest competitor I know (and using right now) is probably https://get.gaug.es (They also have a very slick design once you log in, the landing page is outdated) which is cheaper but not open source and on top of that not written in Go which is a plus for me personally. I'm probably going to check out the self hosted version for a while longer to see where the feature roadmap is going.

It's always great to see new tools offering alternatives to Google. I like how Danny and Paul try to do the right things on this. Great job team!
