Fig — Autocomplete for the Terminal

Fig makes engineers more productive in the terminal.

Our first product adds visual completions for hundreds of public CLI tools like cd, git, npm/yarn, docker, and aws.

Want private autocomplete? Create your own completions and share them with your team!

Fig would change your life for real. You will become better at using Terminal without even noticing it 😉
Brendan Falk
Exactly what we're trying to do, @picsoung. Not abstract away the terminal, rather, just make it faster, more discoverable, and more accessible

Total gamechanger! I love iTerm and Fig makes it me so much more productive as a non-developer futzing with the command line!! 🤓

Intellisense improved the dev-ex tremendously, now a similar notion for the CLI, even better. Congrats on the launch, good luck!
Brendan Falk
@milkers Totally agree. We're starting by bringing intellisense to the terminal, but we plan to bring all the functionality that you have in your edit over too. Check out our launch blog post, I think you might like it: https://fig.io/blog/post/launchi...

Seriously fantastic tool. Just installed and setup my first custom shortcut. This is going to be a huge timesaver. Thanks!

I've been using Fig for about a year and I love it. I just switched over to a new laptop and it felt super weird until I installed a few key apps, Fig being one of them.
Brendan Falk
Thanks, @technovangelist!! Hoping to make that installation process easier very soon

Love the idea and the execution is just 🤯 Now I'm just wondering how I could use a Terminal without it!! Congrats for this amazing product!
Nate Heagy
I love the look of this, but I'm wondering if it's still uploading typed commands to Fig servers? That's a dealbreaker for me.
Matt Schrage
Hey @nheagy, totally understand the concern. Luckily, all of the autocomplete logic runs locally on your device. None of your keystrokes or commands are sent to our servers. You can also opt-out of all telemetry by running `fig settings telemetry.disabled true`
Nate Heagy
@mattschrage Curious about your privacy policy then, "We send a ping each time you select an autocomplete suggestion. The ping contains the root command you used (e.g. git, cd, aws, etc) and nothing else (ie if you select "commit" in "git commit", all we see is git)." Can you elaborate? Would be great if you'd remove that section from your policy 😜
Matt Schrage
@nheagy this does not happen if you disable telemetry by running the command I mentioned above. :)

Been using this since the beta and it just keeps getting better. One of those tools that changes your engineering workflow for the better.
