:Notabene is the fastest way to send email (with text, voice, transcription, or photos) to 'saved shortcuts' (like notes to yourself, to an assistant, your roommates, et al.)
This is a clever way to onboard people into Fin's virtual assistant offering. I expect to see prompts to outsource todos and tasks, a good way to show the potential value in the product to new users.
A very well designed app that replaces what I previously used "Pensieve" for (this app seems better designed).
Some quick feedback:
1) I'm sometimes getting some notes sending as an email twice, even though they only appear in my history once
2) The website/app seem to be lacking any sort of support email address to report bugs etc - the email address that the notes are sent from (notabene@nbfin.co) boucnes if you try to email it
I was hoping this would be a single purpose app for sending emails, like some others I’ve lived in the past - but the emails aren’t from you they’re from the app :/ Otherwise, app is fast, love the simple design, and I might be able to use it for its intended purpose I’ll just have to think a little harder :)
@maiab hey! so the way we handle that is that the emails come from your name, and then the reply-to is the address that you validated... so a recipient can naturally reply and threads work as they would with any other client. We don't want to send email 'spoofing' your gmail or anything because we think that is kinda scary (and hurts our spam scores, etc) -- practically though i think it does what you are asking!
@lessin@kortina
1) Is there a URL scheme that can be used for integrating with iOS shortcut apps (such as Magic Launcher)?
2) Any plans on integrating an action button for iOS -- so users can send URLs from Safari, etc?
3) Are you planning any kind of iOS widget integration?
@tomcharde 1. No URL scheme yet, but you can integrate with anything that has an email address -- so you should be able to add magic that way. 2. Action button, def want to add that. 3. It is more of a write only app, so not sure widget makes sense
@kortina The URL scheme would be for creating a widget area shortcut icon with a launcher app (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/...). So an email won't work. (Users can set up email shortcuts with launcher apps, but that would defeat the purpose of having NotaBene to begin with.)
All of my questions relate to making it easier / quicker for users to launch NotaBene. A widget would allow users to do this quickly, without even unlocking the device. It could either be done through a NotaBene widget (which should certainly be possible, as there are many apps with widgets that allow for emailing), or with a launcher/shortcut widget (like these https://www.macworld.com/article...).
@kortina@tomcharde What Tom is asking about is the url address that one can use to quickly open NotaBene. That would be helpful when let's say using any quick launcher apps or even Drafts. Since NotaBene doesn't have a widget to quickly open, a URL link can be used with another app that has a widget to open NotaBene quickly.
There is certainly a URL link to open the app because when you click on the "verify" link in the email, the link opens the app itself first and then redirects to the Fin website. All we want to know is how that email link is opening the app, so we can use it in other apps in order to open Nota Bene quickly.
my take on notabene from @finexploration. i haven't seen many companies create a sideline product (i.e., a direct notes mvp) for lead generation (i.e., send notes to fin) and technical learning (i.e., running speech translation on voice messages, etc.). i continue to be impressed by @kortina and @lessin for their product savvy.
Nice work @lessin & @kortina, I'm looking forward to using the app! I was reading over the privacy policy and see that any information I send using Notabene, whether it be a voice recording or a note, can be read at any time.
What does the privacy policy mean when this is stated? Aside from this concern, I can't wait to use Notabene! Cheers!
This App seems like it could be really awesome. But when I try to verify it on my iphone, I get the following message:
Hello...
NotaBene Email Verify Error
You must click the link in your email from a phone which has NotaBene installed. After clcking that link, the NotaBene app will be launched and you will automatically get signed in. If you are visiting from a browser on your computer, please try the link again from your phone.
-Notabene
Unfortunately, the app doesn't launch...I keep getting the same error message. Hmmm...
@lessin + @kortina Love it however looking for customer support seems to be like a never ending story... The app is shutting down at 60 seconds when my iphone screen saver kicks in. It didn't do this for the first few weeks but is now. Do you cats or anyone have the hack or a support line into Fin?
Hey there @samuel - this is AWESOME!
Questions - why does the transcription from the audio dictation stop if there is any kind of pause....and it doesn’t resume?
I tested it a few different times, but anytime I paused briefly, the dictation came to a hard stop.
