A few years back, we were working as digital marketers for a large investment advisor in California. After getting to know the industry intimately, we were disappointed to learn how much shady and potentially fraudulent activity was taking place as advisors attempted to recruit new clients. 🤔 What is the problem we are addressing? How is it that we have more information available when finding a place to eat than when searching for someone to manage our finances? We know that it can be very difficult to find a financial advisor you can trust to manage your savings. Typically, this is done through word of mouth, networking, or simply working with family members already in this profession. There are over 400,000 registered investment advisors in the US alone, so when its your life savings on the line, we think there should be more than just word of mouth when picking an advisor. That's why we built a tool that does all the searching and validating for you. So, you can stay in the driver's seat and feel comfortable knowing that the advisor you'll be working with will be the absolute best for your specific needs. ⚒ How does it work? It's easy! There are 3 main things you can do on our site: 1) Match with Advisors - Take a 3-minute quiz and get matched with the top 3 advisors that meet your personal & financial needs. 2) Browse all Advisors - Filter through our entire database of 400K+ advisors and firms to get to a shortlist of potential matches for you. 3) Look Up an Advisor - Search your current advisor or an advisor recommended to you to verify their information, experience, and specialties. 😮 Aren't there already solutions out there? While there are similar services available, these services are all built with the advisor in mind, not you, the user. They are solely meant to generate new leads for the advisors that pay into the program. This means a couple of things: 1) Advisors will aggressively cold-call (and may even harrass) you to sign with them once they receive your personal information. 2) Advisors have to pay to be recommended to you. Therefore, if an advisor didn't pay for the service, they will not appear in a search result. This tips the scale in favor of the much larger advisory firms that can afford to pay for these services. 3) Search results are very limited. Since these lead gen sites operate on a pay-to-play model, this means that the results that the customer will see are very limited and may not actually be a good fit for the customer who is searching for an advisor. 💪 How are we different? 1) We protect your identity and never share it with the advisors you are recommended to prevent them from excessive and unsolicited email / phone call outreach. 2) We do not accept any payment of any kind to recommend one advisor over another. Our database is 100% built objectively and provides accurate recommendations based only on your specific needs. 3) We built our matching algorithm using robust ranking and filtering data that other services do not have access to. This is how we can ensure that when you take our quiz, your matches will truly be the best fit for you. 3) You have access to the entire database, not just the advisors that opted into the program. The site is great. Finance Friends makes finance approachable for a novice and informational for the rest, and I’m so glad that with Finance Friends I don’t have to endure the swath of calls from advisors that I’ve received from other sites in the past.
