Hey everyone, I'm excited to post Firefly! The launch of FF2; pre-orders now open for limited release Firefly 2's for delivery in April/May. Here's a glowing article by Engadget that was posted this morning: http://www.engadget.com/2016/03/....
Here is an amazing review (http://www.vapecritic.com/vapori...) by VapeCritic... this is his highest reviewed vape. Ever.
@bradmichelson See the response to Auston above for more details. The short answer is the Firefly2 has much better, denser and more flavorful vapor. Since it heats up instantly the FF2 is more efficient with your herbs, and is more powerful and responsive. You have to wait for about a minute for the PAX2 before you can even use it at all. The FF2 also works great with concentrates and the P2 doesn't at all.
@bunsen Auston, that's a great question. Here are a couple of the main differences:
1) The Firefly uses pure convection heating and only heats when you're inhaling. So you get much better vapor and the complete flavor of your material. All oven style vapes (those that heat to a set temp) actually off-gas in the 1 to 2 minutes it takes to heat up. They also continue heating even when you're not using it. That really degrades all the more volatile components like terpenes (the actual flavor compounds) which vaporize at lower temps.
2) The Firefly works amazingly well with concentrates. The PAX can't even do concentrates.
3) The Firefly is ready instantly the PAX takes around 1 minute to get up to temp. The Crafty takes 2 minutes. Others about the same.
@bunsen So overall, the Firefly is a much higher quality vapor, is much faster and responsive and works with all the materials you would want. Also, you can check out the Vape Critic review. He does a good job of looking at all the vaporizers in the market right now.

@bunsen to add to Sasha's reply, I wanted to share this review that compares the Pax 1 vs the Firefly 1. It covers many of the points he made, and a few more:

@baran_dilaver Hey, trying to reach out to you guys about this product. Do you have an e-mail I could get to talk to you guys more about the Firefly? @sasha_robison@rachel_dugas
Hey all, it's great to have the Firefly up here on Product Hunt! It's been over a year in the making and it's exciting to be finally getting it out to people. Happy to answer any questions on the product, the technology that we've been working so hard to perfect, vaporizing or just product development in general.
This is the vaporizer that will change your relationship with plants and the concentrates!!...it's a whole new experience - unlike any other vape (well, ....maybe except for Firefly 1 to a certain extent :)
We are so excited to share Firefly2 with the world!!! Whatever intention you have for your vaping experience, this vape has the power to change your life. Our co-founders are the kindest and best-looking geniuses I've ever met and our small (but dynamite) team has worked really hard to bring this product to market. It can be challenging to be "the good guys," but we are doing our best to push the industry towards innovation by creating a brand new experience.
I also used to own a flight box and the thing I liked about it the most was the glass covering it had. It came real handy when I was snowboarding because it was so windy up there. Any way you guys can implement that?
@mikael_angelo We don't have a trade in, but yes, you can use the older batteries. We don't recommend it because the fit is a bit tight and we'ved added a tab to the new batteries that make it much easier to remove but yes, the old batteries will work. The external chargers will also work with the new batteries. Plus the Firefly2 also comes with two batteries (one inside and one extra) so you will have plenty of power straight out of the box!
@dakota_kaiser Yes! Battery life was a big focus for us in FF2. The battery life on the FF2 is double that of FF1. It also comes with an extra battery so you're pretty set.
@dakota_kaiser I'd add that you can get, on average, 6 - 8 bowls or a total of 50 - 80 hits per charge. Plus you get 2 batteries (so a total of ~15 bowls and ~150 hits)... that's plenty of juice for you and your 15 friends.
@james_nexus The main aerospace composite material we used is a special magnesium alloy that is about 30% lighter than aluminum. The entire frame of Firefly 2 is made out of this material, but there are other aerospace metals used inside Firefly's heat core as well that improves the performance. The primary reason that we went with the expensive and hard to work with magnesium alloy for the frame is because our customers asked for a lighter product. And the result is worthwhile that the Firefly 2 is 55% lighter than Firefly OG.
@keegan_blisstears_meade The app allows you to change the heating (Concentrates mode and 5 levels of herbal heating) and change the way the activation buttons work. The Firefly2 will work just fine without the app but you'll be using just the Medium High heating setting. It works great that way, but the app will allow you to get a more customized experience.
