Firework — Easy and fast access to web applications
Featured

When you work with web apps they mix with other sites, losing you time and distracting you. Firework turns web apps into desktop apps.

⏱ These web apps launch and are ready to use immediately

📌 You can pin them to Taskbar or Dock

👌🏻 Switch between them as you usually do with desktop apps

@itsnblackburn Some people like to use web version of a service, because the native versions often have other UX. Also, web applications launch and are ready to use immediately in Firework. For example, native desktop application of WhatsApp launches 6 seconds, web version in Firework launches 0.2 seconds. It is convenient. It is not web catalog because each user uses his set of web applications. The idea is web applications and web pages it is not the same. These entities need different UX.

@itsnblackburn Oh, I see. Thank you for the link. I have installed WebCatalog. It is really like Firework, but I don't understand why it is so big and so slow.

@itsnblackburn We will always strive for an immediate launch. Our specialization is fast switching between web applications. We will never be so slow!

Why is Firework better than, say, fluid.app or nativefier? Both of those have been around for a while and seem to do the same thing.
Alexey Fedorov
@frassmith You right. These tools are similar in spirit and we know about them. Firework is a something such Google App Launcher (died), but without limitation of Google ecosystem. It is more comfortable. Other uniq features of Firework: • Main: Speeding up of web applications. They launch and are ready to use immediately. Scenario "click and wait uploading to work" turns to "click and work". • You can use common browser profile to all applications, or create web applications with separated profile. Last is convenient if you want to use one service under a few different accounts. • You can use web apps insight Firework or create native application with appearing on Launchpad and pinning to Dock. • Simple and beautiful. 😊
Alexey Fedorov
@frassmith Yeah! :) Try Firework. If you get any issues please tell me and we resolve it fast.

Hey @afedorovn - Getting a warning from McAfee antivirus when downloading the Windows app. Any insight there?
Alexey Fedorov
@ryabrams Inside nothing. :) Three antiviruses have made warnings, I think because the application and its signature are new. All warnings were false. We report such cases to antivirus developers, they all add us to white list. Can you attach a screenshot of the warning and tell me version of McAfee? You can use http://feedback.firework.cloud/ for this report. Thank you! And enjoy Firework. :)

I have been using @startpack_ru's Firework for a week now. I really love the idea of how they enable users to replace web apps with desktop apps for productivity. It's available on Windows and Mac, go check it out! Great stuff, @realrus, @jenua_dolganov, @nailgaraev and @afedorovn!

I have been using Firework for a week now. I love it because it helps me convert web apps to desktop apps easily. Faster navigation, productivity.

Pros:

Faster navigation = improved productivity.

Cons:

None that I can think of right now.

Great app. We are using it for our Worksection.com
Alexey Fedorov
@chyngys Thanks!

That's great, but what are the benefits from Station? (https://www.producthunt.com/post...)
Alexey Fedorov
@akdm_ We are better because: • Each web applications works in separate window. Like a desktop native application how you get used to. Use hotkeys according to your UX. • You can add any website and any web application. No limited range. Each person is unique and uses his unique set of web applications. • We consciously do not make a notification so as not to distract you from work. Work proactively. • Firework have accelerating mechanism for immediate launch of web applications. Your web application are ready to use at once after clicking.

Hey, this is cool and if it can reduce memory usage across my tab-catastrophe it'd be really great, but maybe for someone like me who may need a tad more handholding there could be some docs to explain some of the features? Like can I save different profiles across different computers on the same user account? Like if I want to keep Whatsapp on my PC only, Wechat on my Mac, but I need my gmail open on both, can I do it in the same account? And does the account info get saved across machines? Just preferences? Are there any keyboard shortcuts? Just curious, and also the "Speed up apps" tooltip doesn't show up on my Mac for some reason, and it'd be cool to have some sort of easy to find overview of all the nooks and crannies even if the UI is very clean. But yeah, the minimal UI is very cool and it's pretty fast on my ancient Macbook Air which is definitely a good sign. Also, I think the github link here is wrong?
Alexey Fedorov
@jim_zhou > if it can reduce memory usage across my tab-catastrophe it'd be really great Web application in Firework uses the same memory volume as Chrome Browser. Our features are UX and fast launching of web applications. > Like can I save different profiles across different computers on the same user account? You can login on your each computers. But only links will be synchronized. Firework does not upload any profile data. > Like if I want to keep Whatsapp on my PC only, Wechat on my Mac, but I need my gmail open on both, can I do it in the same account? It is very rare case. :) You can add all web applications and tune your Fireworks via Speedup Apps setting. And does the account info get saved across machines? Just preferences? > No. Maybe later, if many users will ask this feature. >Are there any keyboard shortcuts? We strive to ensure that web application windows work with system hotkeys, and content inside of web applications worked on standard browser hotkeys. If something works differently, please let us know. > Just curious, and also the "Speed up apps" tooltip doesn't show up on my Mac for some reason We know about this but we can't affect it because this is macOS side. We are going to implement this tooltip on NW.js side. It should be better. >But yeah, the minimal UI is very cool and it's pretty fast on my ancient Macbook Air which is definitely a good sign. Thank you! > Also, I think the github link here is wrong? Yes, thank you. We will ask our @arunsathiya to fix it. Thank you for you questions! I hope you will like Firework. :)

@afedorovn Thanks for getting back so quickly with the responses. After fiddling around with it a bit on my Windows machine I found that by tying a locally hosted password manager this is actually an amazingly quick way to access dockerized webapps on the fly, really loving the not-waiting-for-Chrome-to-load-up part!
Alexey Fedorov
@jim_zhou It s great that you liked Firework. We tried our best!
Alex Shvalev
Cool app. Congrats! 👍 I like its simplicity and clean UI. I think it would be nice to have more apps available by default (Google Docs, Gmail, etc.). It would also be cool to have the ability to search apps on the internet (you can use your Startpack base, for example). I tried to add a web app manually, and it works great! But I didn't find the way to pin the app to the dock on MacOS. It would be nice just to drag and drop the icon. Will you implement it later?
Alexey Fedorov
@alex_shvalev Thank you for your positive feedback! Yes, we are going to use the catalog of suggested applications later. This is great idea. Pining to Dock is the most popular issue of last hours. :( Sorry, this is our known UX bug. To pin a web application to Dock you need to add it with separated profile. Then you can use "Move to Launcher" context menu. Web application will convert to macOS application, and it will be possible to add it to Dock.
Alexey Fedorov
@alex_shvalev And sure we will fix it during one or two weeks.
Dominik Schneider
@alex_shvalev @afedorovn any news on resolving this bug? I just downloaded fireworks and the bug is a bit of show stopper
Alexey Fedorov
Hi @dschneiderch. Which bug? Can you explain?
Dominik Schneider
@afedorovn "Pining to Dock is the most popular issue of last hours. :( Sorry, this is our known UX bug. To pin a web application to Dock you need to add it with separated profile. Then you can use "Move to Launcher" context menu. Web application will convert to macOS application, and it will be possible to add it to Dock." I'm unable to add a web app to the Dock, even using "move to launcher"

The idea seems really interesting. I'll give it a try. Good luck you guys!

@anastasia_vereschagina Thanks a lot Anastasia!

A useful tool. My recommendations.

Using it for music, Google Translate, and recently started using web version of Skype through Firework (because desktop version started munching on CPU and RAM all of a sudden).

Updates keep coming, they really listen to user requests. App is stable now, im satisfied with it.

Pros:

Lightweight, easy to use. Developers listen to feedback.

Cons:

A room for improvement with pages kept rendered at all time (Settings - Speedup of Apps).

Alexey Fedorov
Thank you for you review. Let me know if something be wrong, we will be happy to help you.

Overall I like it.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do something about the ADS in website.

Make it block the ads in website. sample I use it to watch series in some shady website that has ads all over the place.

I know problem is mostly in me but the adblock part will be really great.

Pros:

I like that its fast.

You can pin the website in my taskbar (windows)

I use it as kinda like a bookmark

Cons:

I dont know if it is safe my outlook account was block when I try to login.

Downloading thru installer is a pain usually install DL are slow

Alexey Fedorov
Jon, thank you for your review! Yesterday there was more than thousand downloads, so the download was slow. We will put distribute to CDN to fix it. Some systems show a safety warning when login is non-standard. This is normal. Using of Firework is completely safe, we use Chromium engine as it is. We are going to add AdBlock extension soon. Please be patient. We are working on it.

This is the best all-in-one app. After trying Franz, Rambox, Station and other similar apps, you should download it and enjoy
Frank Barbato
I was thinking of building something like that because I have so many tabs and browsers open constantly. It's actually a great idea. Congratulations!
