@joshdance I'm curious about this as well - I have the same use case and couldn't justify upgrading just for design changes.
@joshdance @morewillie My eyes glazed over on the full feature list he wrote below (no offense @macguitar!)
A few use cases I don't think he listed, that I'm guessing at from the video:
* Voice event creation
* Create an event from highlighted browser text (clipboard text? couldn't tell)
* TODO list integration
* Choose a subset of calendars you see based on which computer you're using (actual GPS location? couldn't tell)
Really nicely designed @macguitar! Excited to see this version on desktop.
How did you arrive at $40? I know a lot of time and effort goes into development, and you make spectacular products (I live on fantastical on mobile.) Just curious about the thought process of $40 vs 10 20 30 etc.
@jtriest Thanks so much! :) Well, it's a full productivity app that you'll use every day and we've added innovative features like calendar sets and our own CalDAV engine. We feel that for an app you'll use every day, it will provide an incredible return on your investment.
@macguitar Sunrise is super lucky Microsoft acquired them before this came out :)

It's worth it from the time and frustration that it saves me every single day.
Well, Sunrise is being "sunsetted". I guess its time to go all in on Fantastical.
Fantastic! I've been a Fantastical user for many years now. It's really hard to switch to anything else. Minimalism of Fantastical just beats all.
Having said that, new pricing seems to be quite steep (twice the first version?). How you guys plan to justify, when there are (now) more and more similar (natural language etc.) and free/cheaper alternatives? I'm sure many will ask. And do you have any plan for those, who would be upgrading from earlier versions?

Thats said, Fantastical 2 is an all-new app with many new features (check my post above for a list!)
Being a full reinvention of Fantastical and taking it to the next level, we decided to price it appropriately. We understand that you may not find the value in its benefits, as not every app is for every person. We hope you'll reconsider the work we've done and the new features we've added and the benefits Fantastical 2 provides.
@jadojodo We are having a 20% discount at launch to provide a discount for users who bought Fantastical 1 for Mac. New users will also get this discount, but there's no way around this due to the way the Mac App Store works. We actually didn't want to have a launch sale, but we felt prior users should get some sort of discount, so we decided on the 20% off launch sale.

@jadojodo @macguitar Along the same line of thought, is there a reason why you guys decided to build an all new mac app instead of adding to the current app? I think I remember paying something like $20 for the status bar app and it's a little unsettling to think that if I buy this one, you guys might make a Fantastical 3 that I would just have to buy again. Otherwise love the product!

@jadojodo @cwrichardkim Short answer: back in 2011, our goal for Fantastical 1 was to "fix" iCal. With Fantastical 2, our goal was to "fix" Fantastical itself. :) This included things like not having to switch to Calendar whenever we needed to do certain tasks, plus the other benefits a full window provides. Still, we'll consider your feedback. Thanks!
Does anybody have experience with Sunrise and Fantastical 2? I am curious what the benefits/drawbacks are here. I'm happy with Sunrise, but if it's worth trying I am game.
@narekk I have the same question. I recently started using Sunrise (which I love) but I also still use Fantastical in my menu bar for the natural language inputting. I'm not sure if it's worth the $40 to upgrade!
I'm incredibly excited for Fantastical 2. I've recently had an issue where Yosemite forgets my Google credentials daily (but only for one specific account) and with you guys using your own engine for Google/CalDAV this is a godsend.
I'm using it now and it already feels way more reliable than Calendar.app

This app is a godsend โ Apple's calendar is awful for productivity and quickly scheduling appointments with people. My time is precious โ thanks for marking this app better!
@macguitar, I have the prior version of Fanstastical on my Mac, but I do not use it because it does not integrate with all of the services I use - specifically Outlook.com. Have you added Outlook.com or are you still pulling from iCal? And if not, any plans to be fully platform agnostic?

@macguitar Exchange is different than Outlook.com. I know, confusing. Regardless, Fantastical looks great! And if you are the first to solve this Outlook.com integration point, I'll sign-up. :-)

I'd love to get on board, but $40 to upgrade, considering Sunrise is free, the price is definitely steep. Neither are prefect, but I still have to load Sunrise or gCal to access Hangout links, and specifically gCal if I ever want to book a conference room. I'd be sold if it removed the need to open gCal. Any hint either of these are in the works ?

hey just for info ,can we set alarm in Fantastical 2 iPhone ? , I.e think i want to wake up early at 6am and i set it , will it give continues alarm ?
I was searching an app that allow me to use my Google Calendar account from my mac.
I found this on the mac app store and I tried it: I don't think I'll leave it
Pros:Easy to use and very useful (especially if you have a mac but you have an android device)
Cons:Nothing special
