Hey Product Hunt 🎉 I’m Tanay, co-founder & CEO of Wispr Flow, a Mac dictation app that lets you speak naturally, and writes in your style, in every application — with auto-edits, command mode, and over 100 languages. ⭐ The founding story Ever since I watched the first Ironman movie in 2008 at age 10, I've wanted to build Jarvis. It drove me to pull my first all-nighter and start teaching myself how to code. 16 years later, I think we’ve found a way to make a voice experience delightful for all-day use. And there's no one else I'd build this with than my college roommate and closest friend @sahaj_garg2 Our vision is to make voice interfaces both useful (so you trust them) and ubiquitous (so you can use them everywhere). This is how we can move from screen-first technologies to voice-first technologies and build a future where we aren't stuck looking at our phones all day long. ⭐ Using Flow is super simple: 1. Download Flow for Mac 2. Press and hold [Fn] to start speaking in any app 3. Release [Fn] to enter text ⭐ What users love Flow for - 🛠️ Developers using Cursor / Claude / ChatGPT: Speak with AI assistants faster than typing. - ✉️ Professionals breezing through their inbox: Flow accurately captures names and formats your emails and Slack messages. - 🧑‍🎓 Students chatting with AI and finishing assignments even faster: We have a special student discount. - 📄 Product Managers drafting PRDs and sharing thoughts: Flow turns your rambles into clear ideas. - 👶 Parents with busy lives: Time is precious. Every second you save writing is an extra second you have for family. - 🤖 Tech-lovers who want to use voice with every AI tool ⭐ Here’s all you’ll get with Flow 1.0 — and we’re just getting started. 1. ⚡ Blazing fast dictation: Powered by Flow’s ultra-fast inference engine 2. 🎨 Tone match: You speak differently than you write. Flow learns your writing style across every application 3. 🔧 Auto-edits when you change your mind: “Hey lets meet at 5pm, actually lets do 6pm” → “Hey, lets meet at 6pm” 4. 😎 Command Mode for selected text: Say commands like “Flow, make this crisper and more assertive” without copy-pasting into other tools. 5. 🧩 Native integrations: Select text anywhere and just say: “Ask perplexity, what does this mean?” 6. 😶 Whispering mode: Use Flow around others by quietly whispering to your computer. 7. 🔒 Private by design: Your recordings locally on your computer by default. Only you have access to it. You can allow Flow to use your data to improve our models (disabled by default). Learn more: wispr.ai/data-usage For technical users, most voice dictation tools focus on technical metrics like "word error rate." At Flow, we prioritize what truly matters to users: zero-edit messages. With Flow, you rarely need to return to your keyboard for edits. Our new approach has made Flow the first consumer voice dictation platform that makes people enjoy using voice more than their keyboards. ⭐ A final note Our dream is to create a world where interacting with technology feels as natural as interacting with people. I'd love your help to make this a reality. Try out Flow and share your feedback — we're eager to make it even more magical with your input. PS: A huge shoutout to our thousands of beta users who've showered us with love and feedback over the last few months. We wouldn't be here without you.

@sahaj_garg2 @owenfar Thanks, Owen. Big picture, we're excited about future where people spend less time glued to their screens. We believe voice interfaces are part of that future - that's the bet we've made with Flow 1.0. Excited for you to try it!

Congrats @sahaj_garg2 @tanaykothari on launching a worthy TalkTastic competitor. Overall, the product execution is strong. The UI is minimal and seamless, which has its virtues and drawbacks. This is an excellent start. Kudos! One thing I don't understand, though... You claim "recordings locally on your computer by default" and "private by design," but Wispr Flow doesn't work without internet, which says you are sending user data to the cloud. I'm struggling to reconcile these ideas. How can both be true simultaneously? It doesn't add up. Disclosure: I'm the CEO of TalkTastic, a competitor that integrates Claude 3.5 and launched on Product Hunt in July. Our product runs Whisper locally when you are offline.
Sahaj Garg
Hey Matt! Always great to have some competition :) In our onboarding, we explain our privacy policy to our users -- "Your transcripts are processed securely in the cloud but never stored there. All data is saved locally on your device, nothing on our servers. You have complete control on your transcripts. Only you can view and delete them. We cannot access your data." Cloud transcription is the best way to deliver a high accuracy and low latency experience - but we'll enable more local models in the future!

@sahaj_garg2 @tanaykothari @owenfar I think you took the hyperbole used in their marketing video a little too seriously. It's a good product and I used it to write this message. Even though my keyboard, which I use all the time, is right in front of me.

@sahaj_garg2 @tanaykothari How can I use my EDU email to register? I only see two options, Google and Ample, when I sign up, and there is no option to register with other email addresses.

I've been using Flow for about a month now, and it's been an amazing addition to my workflow. I write almost 15,000 words a week using Flow, and I can't imagine going back to computer use without it. One thing they've really nailed is the quality and the speed to get both past that uncanny valley to where it really feels perfect. Fun fact i like Flow so much I bought a foot peddle to map to the invocation key so I can just tap and talk without my keyboard anymore :)
Sahaj Garg
@alexmr super cool, I hadn't thought of that before. that would be especially helpful with wrist injuries, etc

Seems like a lot of spam happening on this app. Check out reddit thread. Hope my post won't get flagged. https://www.reddit.com/r/macapps...
Vlad Arbatov
This sounds like a game-changer for anyone who types a lot on their Mac! The ability to speak naturally and have it written in your style across all apps is amazing.
Sahaj Garg
@vladzima agreed - what would you use it for?
Vlad Arbatov
@sahaj_garg2 Oh basically for everything. Firstly, i don't have to leave annoying voice messages anymore (i tried to use dictation but the quality is... meh). Secondly, i really love you highlighting prompt inputs on your website — this is exactly the case i'm excited for; voice recognition in Perplexity, OpenAI, Claude etc is rather poor executed as well (i guess they use system voice recognition when on device installed as apps?). So I see this becoming my daily tool as well as Raycast, for example (Wow, it actually got the Raycast name correctly. I'm impressed.)

@sahaj_garg2 I wonder why the referrer is shown as null in this link though... http://www.flowvoice.ai/?referra...
Sahaj Garg
@sahaj_garg2 @vladzima can you check again? We fixed the issue this afternoon - lmk if it’s still happening

This is pretty great — love the flow bar above the dock! Oh, and to get a free month of Wispr Pro, you should sign up with my link. 😉
Tanay Kothari
@chrismessina Glad to hear you've been enjoying the product! Thanks to @adityamankare for his designs 🔥
Melissa Monte
@tanaykothari I'm having trouble installing on two computers. The second gives me this error with google login: {"detail":"An error occurred during authentication."}
Advika Jayanti
@tanaykothari @melissamonte Hey can you try again now and let me know?
Misbah Ashraf
Super amazing product. Been using this for last few weeks.
Constanza Hasselmann
@misbahspeaks Wohoo! All ears for any feedback you have
Eric Stresen-Reuter
Love the simplicity and speed. Who wants to type (and correct) when you can just “say it”!
Constanza Hasselmann
@ericsr Think it, speak it, send it 🫡
Mark Lamb
I'd tried other dictation apps in the past, but this one is killer! A crucial part of my daily workflows and a massive productivity hack.
Advika Jayanti
@marklamb Glad you like it! Keep Flowing :)
Constanza Hasselmann
@marklamb All thanks to users like you who are open to sharing feedback 🙌

Humans were born to talk, then we write things down, then we talk to friends over telephone, then we text, now we are back to talking again. Such a beautiful evolution. I've used other dictation apps before, and what's cool about this one is it can auto-correct what you said. I like that - and whisper mode is cool. This is the number 1 reason I don't use tools like this more. Congrats on the launch @tanaykothari and team! PS: love the leaderboard and how people are already hacking it haha
Aditya Mankare
@tanaykothari @tonyhanded thanks Tony for your thoughts! Voice truly is such a great way to interact with technology, and we're just getting started ;)
Tushar Gupta
Love using flow. This is the future of HMI. The UX is well designed, with meticulous attention to detail. Looking forward to a mobile version.
Advika Jayanti
@takyon Mobile version coming soon!
Mehdi Djabri
the speed and accuracy feels like magic, better than any voice model I tried
Sahaj Garg
@mehdidjabri thanks!!
Aly Moursy
Why is it so slow? A 7-word sentence takes sooooooo long. It's faster to just type. I really wanted it to work.
Advika Jayanti
@alymoursy Hey! Feel free to send us feedback through the app. This allows us to see what the issue is on the back end!
Adhit Ramamurthi
Amazing app. Been using it since early in the beta and developers have been very responsive about fixing bugs and implementing new features. Ive tried some of the other dictation apps like superwhisper but flow has always felt more intuitive and just works. Now I can’t imagine my workflow without it.
Sahaj Garg
@adhitramamurthi our goal is to make flow as intuitive as speaking to your friends :)
Matt Galligan
I've been using Wispr for a few months now during the beta period, and have to say that I've been very impressed with it so far. It's been blazing fast and has made typing heavy tasks like email a breeze. Much more of a breeze and pleasure to get through. Congrats to @tanaykothari and team on this milestone!
Advika Jayanti
@tanaykothari @mg Thank you for being an intensive user! This is just V1 of Flow! Excited to change the world of dictation!
Sam Stowers
I've been using Flow daily for the last two weeks. I've tried a number of voice dictation tools, but Flow is my favorite so far. I think the main reason I'm faster with Flow is that speaking uses some different neural circuit than typing for me. I don't feel as much need to go back and revise or obsess over every word. I'll still type when every character counts, like a tweet or a published blog post. But every message and email at this point is Flow. Even this message is written with Flow. 🙂
Sahaj Garg
@phantom_sam that's awesome -- glad to hear it. its a completely different circuit. we're working more on applications where every word counts as well. excited to hear your feedback as you keep using it.
Annika Crowley
Smooth and well considered UX. Congrats on the launch!
Aditya Mankare
@annika Thanks for your thoughts on the UX, means a lot!
André J
Really cool! It will be interesting to see how you stay competitive when apple and google builds similar features into their operating systems? Care to share your vision regarding how you plan to differentiate from native integrations most likely coming in the years a head of us?
Jonathan Viet Pham
Congrats to the Wispr Flow team on the launch! This sounds like a fantastic tool for boosting productivity with natural speech dictation. Does the app learn and adapt to individual writing styles over time for even more personalized results?
Sahaj Garg
@vietpham yes! we're working on adding more and more personalization over time that way it sounds exactly like you and you don't have to edit
Jonathan
Anyone knows which model(s) are used in Flow?
