Cheers Producthunters!
It's been over 3 years since someone hunted Flowchart Fun for the first time. At the time, I didn't even know what a Producthunt was! π
Over the past three years, I've been steadily growing Flowchart Fun and introducing new features. Interestingly, the app's success has coincided with the rise of generative AI and LLMs.
Naturally, having a text-first app right when AI gets great at generating text felt serendipitous, but even still I've struggled to come up with the right way to integrate it. If AI is over-emphasized, it feels clunky and gets in the way of using the app. If it's under-emphasized, it creates awkward flows that slow people down.
Flowchart Fun has _always_ been about speeding up the process of creating diagramsβ that's why we've been text-first since the beginning. I wanted the AI "intervention" to follow suit. That's why, I'm happy to introduce... π₯
## The AI Toolbar πΎπ½πΈ [cue X Files Music]
This may be more hype than a toolbar on a diagramming app deserves, but I've tried a lot of different ways to integrate AI into Flowchart Fun and out of all the ideas I've tried, this one feels by far the best.
You can create diagrams from a loose idea "show me a diagram of a rocket launch" (Prompt Mode), you can create a diagram from a bunch of text you already have like notes, outlines, or even a blog post (Convert Mode), and finally when you're working a diagram you like, you can edit the entire thing with natural language (Edit Mode).
Not too much, not too little. The goldilocks of AI integrations. π€
So that's the focus of this launch and I hope people will go give it a try. We offer a several free generations per-month (no login required) and then it's $4/month for unlimited generations.
See you on the other side!
Congratulations, @tonerow! π It's fantastic to see how Flowchart Fun has evolved over the past three years, especially with the introduction of the AI Toolbar. The thoughtful integration of AI into a text-first app is a game-changer! Can't wait to try out the different modes you mentioned β Prompt, Convert, and Edit. This approach definitely strikes the right balance, and Iβm sure it will enhance the UX greatly! Excited to see how this grows. Upvoted!
Congrats on the launch, @tonerow! π Itβs amazing to see how Flowchart Fun has evolved over the past three years. The AI Toolbar sounds like a real game-changer! I love the idea of "Prompt Mode" for quick inspirations like a rocket launch diagram β talk about streamlined creativity! π
Also, your focus on keeping the integration intuitive makes me want to dive in and test it out. Iβm all for a balance between functionality and ease of use. Excited to see how this goldilocks of AI plays out! Time to upvote and give it a spin!
Hey Rob,
I'm wondering how the AI handles more complex or technical diagrams. Does it have any domain-specific knowledge, or is it purely based on general language understanding?
Are there any plans to allow users to fine-tune the AI with their own data or preferences?
Congrats on the launch!
"Sounds like a really neat update, Rob! Love the focus on keeping things fast and simple while still integrating AI. The toolbar sounds like itβll be super helpful for creating quick diagrams without getting bogged down by too many features. Excited to give it a try.
Congratulations @tonerow on the exciting launch of the AI Toolbar for Flowchart Fun! π It's incredible to see how the app has evolved over the years, especially with the rise of AI. Your ability to find the balance in AI integration is impressive. Keep up the great work!
Congratulations on the exciting new feature, the AI Toolbar, for Flowchart Fun! π Your thoughtful approach to integrating AI sounds like a great enhancement for users.
How did you determine the balance between AI integration and maintaining a smooth user experience in Flowchart Fun, and what feedback have you received from users about the new AI Toolbar?
Love the Goldilocks approach! How does the AI handle more complex prompts or edits, I've found this to be an issue with similar tools where it works well with a few words, but more detailed instructions sometimes result in nonsense outputs
