Fluently is an online distraction-free editor with a translator, multilingual grammar checker, and synonym library built-in. Improve your writing in a foreign language.
@sandercrombach Hey Sander, the idea is really cool to me. I was inspired.
But when I wanted to try it, I was first offered to add my bank card and pay for the first month.
This alarmed me. What if I don't like it? What if it doesn't work as it should? Why can't I try how it works first and then think about paid features?
And I left, did not try. Got upset. I thought it was some kind of enticement.
Very cool! Since you don't have a landing page, I'm curious on what languages are supported and if you are using an in house or external translation service
Let us tell you about Fluently, a web-based tool for translations and content editing.
Fluently is an online distraction-free editor with a translator, multilingual grammar checker, and synonyms library built-in. Improve your writing in a foreign language.
Distraction-free editor + Translations + Grammar, style, and spell checker + Synonyms library → All-in-one tool.
You can use it to create a document in a foreign language while writing in your mother tongue. The idea for Fluently was born out of our own multilingual needs and experiences with writing.
Additionally, you can share and publish your documents, use Fluently as your primary document editor using the document overview. Your formatting will be saved, even while translating, and you can even edit the translations directly.
We are excited to share Fluently with you and hope you'll enjoy using it. Let us know what you think, and we are looking forward to your feedback.
Seems to be such a useful product, and I can right away see it's uses in literally every single business I can think of. I'm sure Fluently will go places, I'll definitely try it out. All the very best!
It looks really promising, I'll recommend it to our team. Btw, I agree with @thehmstudios that it would be great if one could try out your product before having to pay up.
Have you explored a money-back guarantee for the first month? That often works well, because, (1) for people interested in a product, it removes the perceived risk of trying it out, and because, at the same time, (2) it probably won't cost you much, as few people tend to actually ask for their money back later, especially if the product is great.
Maybe I'd make the money-back guarantee conditional upon the user's sharing feedback. That way, you'll win (via new user insights) even when people do ask for their money back.
@christian_schierenbeck@thehmstudios We don't have a dynamic pricing yet indeed, so we can imagine it is more expensive in some countries. We will work on this, thanks for the advice.
@thehmstudios@christian_schierenbeck That's a good idea Christian. We will have a look at this. For now this is not possible and you can try it out for an entire month for only €12. Gives you 30 or 31 days of full use to see i t is worth it. We think it is, would be great to hear your thoughts.
@thehmstudios Ah, you are from Brazil? Yeah, everything is really expensive now in reais. (I lived in Brazil for almost 15 years, but, for most of the time, the real was much stronger.)
Looks awesome. But, I am wondering what kind of accuracy level your Fluently offers in comparison to Machine translation apps out there like Google Translate. Would you explain a bit? Thanks.
@john_rhee2 We use a neural machine translation service that delivers fast, high-quality, affordable, and customizable language translations. Neural machine translation is a form of language translation automation that uses deep learning models to deliver more accurate and more natural sounding translation than traditional statistical and rule-based translation algorithms. Although our service is very accurate, if you need 100% accuracy, using a professional translator is your best option. The Fluently editor allows you to edit the translation output to bridge the gap between machine translations and human translations. I hope this helps you, if you have any other questions, please ask.
A modern, web-based text editor with grammar-checking and translation capabilities and a sensible, 300-word description that not once mentioned machine learning, artificial intelligence, ML modeling, blockhchain, or big data? Well, I don't know, I-wait, NATIVE DARK MODE SUPPORT?!?! Please take all three-fiddy of my remaining savings and best of luck with the product, it really seems to check all the right boxes for a wide variety of use cases. We definitely need more of this in the age of MVP BS.
Oh, and though I've repressed the memory of Grammarly pretty damn well for something that's been part of my workflow for years - and to the point that I almost forgot to bring it up here - have a short Reddit writeup on why I've had enough of them this year. Even with no alternative in sight (Fluently is going for a spin next, hoping that this will be it). Just as an effort to illustrate how sensible product decisions, even when it comes to something as ubiquitous and supposedly "figured out" as word processors, aren't necessarily commonplace or anything close to that:

@nataliekarakina Hi Natalie, thanks! Fluently offers indeed grammar, style and spell checking, like Grammarly does. But Fluently offers it in 42 languages, not only in English. Plus you can also translate and find synonyms as well.
