𝑓″ to fluently writing in mixed languages and symbols and you'll have my attention 🙃
DoWeb
What uses here for the translation google, deepl or both?
Milber Ferreira
@bzar_ Hey, thanks for asking, please send me a personal message on LinkedIn, and we can get deeper into this topic 😊
James Young
This looks very promising upon first try. Intuitive UI and feels very 'snappy'.
Milber Ferreira
@jydesign Thank you! We believe Fluently could help many people who write in a foreign language. Feel free to share with us your feedback if you find things you don't like or could improve. We'll love to hear that 😊
Oscar Terrazas
Congrats... I've just used it for translating a blog post I created in Spanish and which I translated using Google Translate with decent results but lots of proofreading from my part. I felt that using Fluntly was more humane and need it less human tweaking. Understanding how CNN works, you should be aiming for increasing usage for fine tuning.
Milber Ferreira
@blondonfilms Thank you for trying our beta and for your comment. We are glad you are liking it is far. We will continue to improve the quality of our product over time, please stay tuned!
Michel de Meere
Awesomeness! This is so promising!! Keep it up!
Milber Ferreira
@micheldemeere Thank you! Glad you are linking it!
zodman
Plz make a cli version for integration with vim/sublimetext/vscode
Milber Ferreira
@zodman Thanks for trying our beta. Integrations are crucial to our future developments, but I wonder what is the specific use-case for and integration in code editors. Could you expand a little on this? Programming languages are language-specific. What would you translate with a code editor integration?
Malak Lopez
I entered some Chinese copy and it detected Hungarian. I was not able to find where I could manually change the original language for translation. How can I manually set the language?
Sander Crombach
@malaklopezla Hi Malak, we just deployed a new version (V 0.0.9-β), which gives you the option to select the language source for the translation manually. So you can change it to Chinese yourself, and continue now in that language. Thanks for you feedback! We are improving Fluently with feedback like yours. If you still can't select the source language, wait for 1 minute and you should see a notification prompting you to get Fluently's new version. And if you come across other bugs, please let us know.

As a native spanish-speaker, I wouldn't say that it makes you sound fluent... to be honest, you can instantly tell it's an automatic translation. But I feel like the translations are still a lot better than Google Translate. The main reason I can't recommend it, is because it doesn't work the way they advertise it... at least their English to Spanish translations. But it's definitely a step forward compared to other solutions I've seen.
Milber Ferreira
Javier Luz
@milberferreira That's a great way of thinking. I'll definitely be looking into future updates, and I look forward to testing your English-Spanish translations again! Good luck to all of your team.
Thomas Mester
If you detected the lang don't propose to translate into this lang. The title isn't translated on my side. Otherwise it's working.
Milber Ferreira
@hotgeart Hey, thanks for the feedback. What is happening is that we are detecting your browser language settings and applying those as the target language to translate. If you have any suggestions on how would you prefer this to work we are all ears 👂😊
Roy Larke
Tried this with Japanese, but it failed to recognise simple text and then thought a longer piece was Portuguese... That's fine, I'll try again later. Google Translate etc. are frustrating specifically because you cannot correct it when it gets it wrong, so a dictionary would be a great idea.
Milber Ferreira
@roylarke Thanks for trying it and sharing your feedback. Some languages are more difficult to recognize than others, but we are working on making our recognition algorithms stronger and more accurate day by day. We are also looking into giving you the option to update the translation on the fly to regain the control over the outcome of the Machine Translation. Human Intelligence is still superior to Artificial Intelligence when it comes to languages, and Fluently is only trying to fill in the gap between the two by providing you a bridge where you can use Artificial Intelligence to get started and finalize your translations as you think is best.

Actually, when I saw Hello in Korean '여보세요', i lost trust lol
Daniel
Which ML translation service you are using? Is DeepL integrated?
Milber Ferreira
@danielcgn Hey, thanks trying out our beta and for the great question. Ping me on LinkedIn and we can go deep into that topic 😊
Jim Kleban
This is so well designed and I found it a joy to try the Beta. Congrats on a great launch! Maybe a trade secret but do you employ models for the translation on top of existing public ones? I build ML in NLP in this area, so I'm curious how other people do this in production. Generally, nothing from scratch is possible without big funding ... ;) Also, I wasn't sure how to share a document when I am finished (other than cut and paste?) Did I miss this in the design?
Rafael Camargo
Wow, the translation quality is unbelievable! Congratulations 🎉
Milber Ferreira
@rcamargo Thanks! There is always room for improvement when is AI vs Humans, and we still have a long way to go but it's slowly getting there.
Jerry
This is pretty sweet. I'm currently learning Spanish and this would be useful for quick translations. Can you see this being used for language learning?
Milber Ferreira
@jerryalex Great question! Absolutely, we soon will be adding Speech-to-text and Text-to-speech features which will allow you to dictate and listen to the text you are translating. Also, we have a broader plan to make Fluently an educational platform for multilingual learners. Feel free to share your feedback with us and let us understand what you need to make Fluently work better for you in your educational journey, we are all ears.
Javier Severino
Great idea and great looks!! can't wait to try it out
Milber Ferreira
@jassu1 Yes, pleas go ahead, try it out, and let us know what you think.
Emmanuel Lemor
Also, 1 thing that is a bit annoying about the use of Fluently: you type some text, then have to choose Translate into - if I am a user coming to Fluently for the Translation aspect [which is what you are about, right? :) ] it would be good if there was a Translation mode or a choice to the interface so that it would remember and present the interface with the 2 panels right away. Then, after typing text I choose my language great...and I reread my original text and notice a tweak I want to make - then it goes back to single column/wide mode ;( yuck... now I have to make my tweak and again select Language :( ;( wasteful, please make it that is stays in two column mode and just lets me edit in place and then translate in place after my edit...
Milber Ferreira
@emmanuellemor Hey, thanks for trying out Fluently beta and for your comments. We added this ”focus-writing” mode to all our beta users but soon you'll be able to preserve the split-screen state 😉 Please stay tuned as we release changes often and this feature upgrade is high in our priority.
mkay
Wow. This looks amazing. I tested Arabic, English, Amharic and Somali. The translation is almost precise. Keep it up.
Milber Ferreira
@kayd_yonis1 Thanks a lot! We are super excited and will keep on improving to make the quality even better. Thanks for your support. Stay tuned!
Emma-Paola de Haas Garcia
This is fantastic! Looking forward to browser extensions!
Milber Ferreira
@emma_paola_de_haas_garcia Ha, great suggestion! We'll look into making a spot in our roadmap for researching this possibility. Thank you!
