Hey folks,
Simo here, the founder of folk.
With AI has come a storm of advanced automations. This is impacting every industry now including some of the most human aspects of our lives: our relationships.
Who here hasn’t been on the receiving end of a mass outbound email, an irrelevant cold call, or a bot-scripted reply? Do we still really expect these to work? When everyone can use ChatGPT to generate another email or post, how do we expect to stand-out?
A year ago, we released folk 2.0 as the Intelligent CRM. We explored how AI could help us build a better CRM and help you close more deals. But the further we dug, the clearer it got. AI is just a tool, not a solution. And our customers needed a way to use technology to bring them closer to the right people at the right time, not to wedge them apart with robot repeats.
We’re designing folk to help you build genuine connections. That’s the way to land high-value deals and drive new business.
So hear me out:
1. We want to help our customers better know their connections and it starts with data. What are your last interactions? Who from your team knows them best? What other data can we get about them with enrichment?
2. We want to help our customers nurture their prospects with the power of social selling. So we built ways to leverage Conversation Templates on LinkedIn and Gmail, to export commenters from LinkedIn posts and be able to outreach to them, and to track leads’ social media activity, and more.
3. We want to help our customers keep their outreach personal and perfectly-timed, so we built sequences, message analytics, and AI icebreakers.
4. We want to turn genuine connections into fruitful deals they can close as a team, so we introduced custom objects (e.g. deals) and a central notification inbox for working as a team on folk.
We believe these changes will help you thrive in an AI world by building more meaningful relationships.
Are we anti-AI? Not exactly. Do we build products that are people-first? Definitely.
Awesome product ! I only use 22% of the features but it's already amazing, helps me manage my leads easily and take advantage of Linkedin to the fullest
@clara_simone thank you so much for the kind words. The problems with existing CRMs is that there are so much things they become almost impossible to use / too complex
I really like Folk. Never used a CRM in my life before until I found Folk - now I use it for all my business contacts and it keeps growing! Great product
Awesome work team folk!! It's amazing to see how much progress you've made so far towards the vision of building the next Salesforce
The AI integrations are super neat.
Folk is our Go-To CRM!
They have done an amazing job simplifying the UX, meaning it's genuinely useful off-the-shelf.
Compared to the big names incumbents, it's night and day.
Congrats @simolemhandez and team!
I am not a regular commenter at PH, but seeing Folk here, cannot leave without attention. Being a CEO of a startup I was trying quite a few ways how to organize my contacts (business leads, investors, partners etc) and it was always a struggle -- traditional CRM would be rather single channel oriented, or too expensive, while things like G Sheets or AirTable are not flexible enough.
Until I met Folk accidentally –I know you guys are on early stage but this product already solves a lot of things for me:
- Having multiple groups so I can work with different type of people
- Browser extensions so I can directly paste people from social media (LI & X are must for me)
- Notes for each person, reminders – super helpful
- Enrich tool – superb
The only bit I am waiting would be iOS app and ability to export a contact directly from iOS LI or X apps.
Might be useful, how I found your product was public URL with a list of prospects (was shared in one of communities).
Please keep going!
This was so so insightful @delta7vs ! A huge thank you for taking the time to comment. I'm sure @erwan_gauthier1 will be happy to hear about the public lists. We're aiming to better support you on the go in the near future too. We'll keep everyone posted.
Folk is taking the CRM world by storm. It's fun to use, sales administrative tasks become playful now. I recommend trying even if you have a CRM at your company. You'll see initially they put people first in their product.
@rodrigo_fernandez6 thank you for asking! When it comes to precise features:
- 1-click waterfall enrichment
- conversation templates on LinkedIn messages and Gmail
- Custom objects (currently in beta)
- Email sequences
- Zapier/Make triggers function
- Analytics (coming soon)
more largely, it's about understanding we're the CRM for companies who care about people, and our job is to make our users better a building real relationships
@simolemhandez but those features were already part of Folk. Maybe the Zapier/Make trigger function is newish.
I get the whole “CRM who cares about people” positioning, but I wonder how much of this launch is more of a marketing play. Adding a “3.0” version used to mean a major release of the product.
Apologies for pushing back, just want to understand this because I’m a Folk user and I don’t get what’s all the fuzz on 3.0.
@rodrigo_fernandez6 Yes, it certainly appears that "3.0" is being used primarily as a marketing positioning (almost akin to a rebranding), at least for now. The changelog (as of this writing) shows nothing new, and it appears to show that the Zapier feature you mention arrived back in November:
https://www.folk.app/changelog
That being said, while I bristle at the apparent semantic stretching, I get the need for a marketing push/relaunch, and I wish the product lots of success. The personal CRM space is a key one, and Folk appears to have a strong product.
Hey @rodrigo_fernandez6@karamar, appreciate the discernment! folk 2.0 launched in May 2023, so over a year ago, and all of the features Simo mentioned have launched (or relaunched with new partner providers) in the year since our previous Product Hunt. So yes, our messaging and positioning has evolved to reflect a deeper understanding of what our customer's really want. But it's also to encapsulate genuinely new features. Hope that helps clarify a bit.
Great work!! I'm a Folk user since a few months now, and the feature that we really need now is connected fields between a contact and its company. Automated. If we change the status of the company, the status of the contact will change. And we can decide of not using them of course if people do not need them!
Continue with your work, we really appreciate what you do! :)
Our account: Mayze.io
@simolemhandez thanks! but yes, I already know about views and how you can look at the status of a company through a person table but what we need is connecting this field to a person since we are automating through a person on zapier and need to update its company after.
I've used a few mainstream CRMs in the past and no other CRM can manage so many different types of lists for different use cases as Folk. Also the fact you can extract profiles so easily from LinkedIn to tailor your outreach makes it super useful. And yes, I'm only using only a fraction of the capabilities and am still super happy!
