Cool idea, doesn't look like it's working though. Seems some copy is just copy/pasted from first event, including old dates - no evidence of what happened back in August at first one either.
Also, not sure Thanksgiving weekend is best time to try this again.
@ryanheybourn you might want to change your tag line. Startup Weekend is an existing program out there in over 1000 cities around the world whos parent company is Techstars. You may get a legal request to change it since there is a conflict of the name/tag line.
Awesome idea, hopefully you can get it to take off and connect like minded entrepreneurs and create teams. Sounds like a decent way to ship an MVP over the weekend.
@ryanheybourn Yup! it's what I was thinking - it's a great fucking idea, but such products are so dependent on the community.
Maybe you should specifically target solopreneurs/travelpreneurs and build a community around it? People from remote year, or half the people who are active on Nomad list.
I personally love it, but I could see myself flaking as well if it is free or not willing to pay as it might be too much of a commitment.
Every week might be too often as well, right now. It'll suck if it dies :(
@ryanheybourn@rahulr047 I agree. Weekly will probably induce flakery. "Oh, I can just do it next weekend". I would do it monthly or perhaps bi-monthly. Also, I hate to say this as a consumer, but I would jack up your prices. Before I saw your price, I was thinking a lot higher than $15. Idk maybe start with $30. It really depends on the added value you provide, like mentors and feedback you get. I really liked the "What happens once the weekend is over?" section, where you mention that " 25% of all teams continue to work together". I think thats a big value prop and should go on the homepage. Just my 2 cents.
