I’ve spent over 600 days developing Fread, driven by my passion for perfect UI and user experience. Fread is a meticulously crafted Mastodon client that supports almost every feature you’d expect, with seamless UI and interaction. I’m committed to continuous development, with plans to support more protocols like Bluesky in the future. Best of all, it’s completely free! often wonder what makes the perfect MicroBlog app. Eventually, I decided to build it myself. Fread is my attempt to create an app that, in an ideal world, supports all MicroBlog protocols and unifies all interactions. I believe we don’t need many complicated apps—just one that does it all. Imagine a day when you can browse posts from all platforms in a single app, with the best possible user experience. Wouldn’t that be amazing? That’s the vision behind Fread.

@ke_zhang congrats on the launch! [I think you repeated your first paragraph!]
@chrismessina Thanks for the reminder, I deleted the duplicate part.

Fread sounds intriguing, especially with the plans to support Bluesky! How do you envision handling user feedback for potential features?
@antoine_gauthier_ There is now an entry for feedback within the app. Generally, I will evaluate the rationality of the feedback and then decide whether improvements are needed.

Fread sounds really interesting! I'm curious about how it handles RSS integration. Any specific features there?
@ezshine Specifically, Fread will format the RSS content into MicroBlog format and display it in Feeds, and the details page will display the specific content according to the standards of RSS documents.

Hey Ke, Can users create separate feeds for different topics or interests? How do you handle the differences in content format between Mastodon posts and RSS articles? Congrats on the launch!
@kyrylosilin You can create a post that includes Masotodn users and RSS, select the feeds according to your interests and add them to the same mixed feeds flow. For the format differences, Fread has done some processing to ensure that they are displayed consistently on the homepage. In the content details page, Fread will do special processing for RSS content. As you can see, the details page of RSS content is completely different from the details page of Mammoth content.

Well done! Curious about cross-platform compatibility.
@leo_chen8 I plan to use Kotlin and Compose Multiplatform UI for cross-platform

Another app trying to be the all-in-one solution, we've seen this before with Hootsuite and Feedly, not sure we need another, plus they always start free and end up charging later, sounds like a tall order to me, good luck with that

Found out about this through a friend's recommendation, though it's cool to see something new on the market, I'm skeptical, why not just improve existing apps instead of adding another one, and do we really need yet another platform merger, also what's the plan for privacy and data management
@codecrafter2023 I can't improve the existing program according to my ideas.

So you've spent over 600 days on this and we're getting yet another microblog client, seems like more of the same old thing packaged differently, do we really need another app trying to do it all, especially when most fail at delivering even one thing well
@devtoolstonic I think this isn’t “the same old thing packaged differently”; it’s something completely different that just bears some resemblance to “the old thing”.
