Freshbooks is a great Toronto-based startup that serves international customers. They recently rebuilt their product entirely with a great new interface and new functionality. Freshbooks has been around for awhile but it's better than ever now with this new version.
@byosko Ben, thanks so much for posting. I've been leading the Product team building the new FreshBooks for the past 3 years. We're all super excited about today's launch, hopefully our customers love it!
Love Freshbooks. Was instrumental in helping our startup operate in the early days. Really proud of the work they did, excited for the new iteration of the product :)
@avrum_laurie I've been a long-time Freshbooks users so glad to see this updated. However, when I login, I don't see the new changes. Is this a slow rollout?
Hi Joseph! Yes we are slowly rolling out to existing customers. If you haven’t yet received your invitation you will in the coming weeks—we’re just putting the finishing touches on some features you use today. Thanks for hanging in there!
@rdbrdd@webjoe@avrum_laurie@jeremybailey Spoke with Freshbooks support. Current paying users have to wait until they figure out how port data from features that will no longer be supported into the new app. Big thumbs down for this approach that prioritizes growing userbase with new users over rewarding loyal customers stuck with a dated interface. Thumbs up for @ZipBooks.
@treyheath@rdbrdd@webjoe@jeremybailey Hey Trey, totally get where you're coming from, but migrating existing customers to the new FreshBooks has been a top priority for us from the start.
We actually have 3 whole teams dedicated to building out the migration experience from FreshBooks Classic to the new FreshBooks. We want to ensure as smooth a transition as possible, which goes beyond just porting data.
Also, thousands of customers have already migrated from FreshBooks Classic to the new FreshBooks. We'll be steadily opening it up to more customers over the coming weeks.
Does freshbooks help with payroll management for small businesses? I reckon that it does but I'm new to payroll and I'm not sure what words to look for on your site 😁
I have some trouble learning how the new version works but now it helps me a lot.
In my opinion, if you don't have a proficiency in accounting, systems like Freshbooks are great.
@georgehkaplan Until you've been migrated to the new FreshBooks, you won't be able to log in to the new mobile app.
Keep using the FreshBooks Classic app for now, and when your account is ready to migrate, we'll send you an email.
If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out to support@freshbooks.com.
FreshBooks user over here, really excited about the changes! I know you have a very thorough user research process - could you tell us a little more about how you approach UX research and how you tested these changes with users? Thanks!
@darynakulya thanks for asking! We start every project with a generative research process where we interview customers to capture needs and insights to generate a problem statement. You might call this sprint zero. We follow that with weekly design sprints based on a Lean UX. Every week starts with a hypothesis that solves a UX problem and ends with a prototype that we user test to validate whether we've solved the problem for our customer. Everyone in product and design meets to critique and discuss findings twice a week. We've been trying to publish as much of our process as we have time to write down here. https://medium.com/@freshbookspd
@byosko@avrum_laurie looks fresh, kudos... Lot of our customer @agilecrm are Freshbooks users and enjoy the benefits of this integration. Coincedently, I am writing a blog about Top 5 Invoice software which integrate seamlessly with us. Will add the new features in the blog to inform our customer base :)
No matter if you're a self-employed person looking for an accounting solution or a small/medium enterprise co-operating with you accountant, FreshBooks makes accounting much easier to handle.
Pros:
well-designed visuals, suitable for "accounting dummies", user-friendly
ave a tool that is responsible for accounting and payments in a precise way, correct and pleasing to customers, because with their bills templates you have personalization, and give the touch to your service.
Pros:
Ease of use!
Cons:
Syncing with bank account is inconsistent. Sometimes we have todo manual entries.
Meh. Was a Freshbooks user for over 6 years. When they updated, they removed the ability to use PayPal so I was stuck with the old design.
To add insult to injury they then jacked my monthly price up by 33% for the pleasure. No thanks.
Moved to InvoiceNinja.
