Hey PH! I'm one of the co-founders of Freshpaint! Thanks @hnshah for hunting us. TLDR: - HIPAA compliant alternative to Segment. - Send customer data to tools like Amplitude, Mixpanel, and more without sharing PHI or paying extra for a BAA. - For those not in healthcare, Protected Health Information (PHI) has much more stringent/critical compliance requirements than PII. We're more secure than other solutions on the market, which is a good thing regardless of which industry you're in. - Functionality to enforce HIPAA compliance across your stack and control where PHI goes Problem(s): 1. If you want a customer data platform (think Segment) but you need HIPAA compliance, you literally have two options: build it yourself or violate HIPAA. 2. Signing BAAs limits what tools you can use, and makes things more expensive. For example, Amplitude charges $75k/year just to sign a BAA. Our journey in building this Freshpaint powers the entire analytics and customer data flow for healthcare companies like Done, Two Chairs, Osmind, Modern Health, and more. We're continuing to build more for highly regulated industries. We worked closely with a handful of healthcare companies to dig into their problems around customer data, product analytics, and HIPAA compliance. When we first made Freshpaint HIPAA compliant, we assumed every destination a healthcare company would want to send data to would also be HIPAA compliant. Wrong. We quickly learned that most companies want to send data to tools that are both HIPAA compliant (like a CRM or a data warehouse) and tools where they don’t have a BAA in place, thus not HIPAA compliant (like possibly Amplitude or some other tool). We then started working on an entire data governance feature set devoted to de-identifying PHI and controlling where PHI goes across your stack. We wouldn't be here without the support of our early customers for this product, all of the customers on our core product, and the people in healthcare that are smarter than us who helped us along the way!
