Great concept. Maybe I'll git a go when we are ready to fundraise.

This is a fantastic idea. Congatulations on the launch!

Would it make sense for real estate investors that fundraise for projects or syndications?
Daniel Rongo
@jaceperry unfortunately not, Jace. We focus on tech startups at this stage and some select DTC businesses.

@jazkingok thanks Jaz for your kind words!

This is soo much better than just connecting with random VCs in LinkedIn begging for a quick intro meeting. I'm very glad there is a solution now!
Amir Husain
Seems like this is mostly for companies trying to raise from VCs? What about companies who want to raise from angels or individual investors? Can you help?
steve beyatte
@husain1 we work with angel networks and smaller funds, too!

Raising money for a startup is like birthing a pineapple, so congrats on the launch @daniel_rongo and team. First time founders need guidance. Repeat founders need intros. Funden does both and if the quality on the former is good and the networking enabled by the latter is too, then shazam-- that's literally hundreds of hours of founder time and tears that can be saved for every startup looking to access capital. There are plenty of tools and tips for founders on how to run a VC process and there are lots of people who will make a warm intro to a VC if they think your startup has potential, but there's no easy bridge between the two, so I hope that's what Funden becomes. Over the past ten years I've raised or help raise as co-founder VC money for Uphold, Airtm, Cadoo, and Slyk. Here are the biggest pain points that I hope Funden solves: 1. Efficiency-- it's been said that building a startup is like flying an airplane while constructing the essential pieces that keep it aloft. Add a long and time-sucking fund-raising process to that and many startups hit the ground hard before they hit the VC jackpot. I hope funden cuts the outbound outreach way down and allows founders to run a tight process that interrupts building as little as possible. 2. Disappointment-- Lots of founders launch on Product Hunt or emerge from an accelerator and expect a crowd of investors to start throwing fistfuls of cash at them. Because this happens sometimes (never happened to me in my entire startup career, but I've heard it happens), there's the hope that it might happen. I hope Funden can provide cold, hard, even harsh feedback as soon as possible so that founders can manage their own and their teams' expectations. My view is that founders should build community around their product idea way before they build the product, and that if they do they will be well-positioned to impress VCs with their traction and knowledge of the problem they purport to solve. VCs want to derisk their decisions and a solid community of believers, collaborators, early adopters, and users is the best way to do that. 3. Valuation-- lots of promising startups get low-balled because they don't have a birds-eye view of the funding landscape. Techcrunch, Pitchbook, and others provide very complete data, but founders are often too busy building, growing, trying to level up, etc. to dig in. Would be great if Funden did that work for founders and provided a pessimistic, realistic, and optimistic scenario for what founders can expect w/r/t valuations and terms. Biggest questions I have about the product (congrats on hitting #1 on PH) are: 1. VCs spend a long time developing their deal flow and Funden is opening up dealflow to all VCs who join-- is there a sense that the most highly-regarded VCs won't join the platform? I personally think cash is a commodity and that founder energy and enthusiasm, grit and moxie are the truly valuable aspects of building startups, but curious about how Funden is thinking about VC deal flow. 2. Like all two-sided marketplaces, Funden is going to charge to connect, hoping to create a flywheel and NFX from founders and VCs joining the platform, adding value, and justifying the Funden rake. Can i suggest that you share the upside in the platform with everyone who joins via a Coin-powered community. If I bring ten founders and ten VCs who all end up paying, I should receive a referral reward, no? And if I want to collaborate in some deeper way, there should be some sort of easy coin-gated community to screen serious collaborators from lookie-loos. Without some sort of alignment of incentives-- play-to-earn/learn/own-- then there's a risk that that the rake friction slows the flywheel and NFX are never unlocked. I'm not talking about launching an onchain token, but rather something like a Slack that makes it easy to collaborate with everyone in the world, rather than just teammates. Congrats and let me know how I can get in touch to collaborate and share more ideas. The world needs more entrepreneurs, more founders, more startups, more Musks, and connecting great founders with great capital allocators is an essential part of that. Let's all level up together!

This seems interesting but what happens if a company doesn't raise?
steve beyatte
@ramonahale it's inevitable that not everyone successfully closes a round but we try our hardest!
