Not sure this can get me to switch from Swype but I'll give it a shot.

This video makes me damn hungry for Umami Burger.

I like Google's strategy of launching on iOS first, Android second πŸ˜„

@jackdweck agreed... b/c Im iOS

That was a damn good update. An overhaul if I may. Loving it.

In Swiftkey you can use the spacebar while swiping. If you add that feature then you'll have me.

Gboard has changed my life... It took me a while to come around to it and I still make so many bloody spelling mistakes because I'm not used to just accepting the predictive recommendations... But David Brent GIFs - changed my life. Wish the emoji's were up to date with current iOS update - but this is the Android release so I shall not mention ANYTHING else about emojis 😝 What other keyboard apps are great on Android?

@bentossell Still finding it hard to switch from SwiftKey, but I've been using the leaked APK of this for a few days. Missed it so much after switching to Pixel.

@megaroeny @bentossell Thanks! With Gboard you'll still get all your favorite features from Google Keyboard like one-handed mode. And you'll also get new goodies like search, emojis, and gifs :)

Hey there, I’m Alan, a PM for Gboard and we’re super excited to bring you this new update! Starting today, Google Keyboard has become Gboard. Gboard has all the things you love about your old Google Keyboard β€” speed and accuracy, Glide Typing and voice typing β€” plus Google Search built in. You can search and send information, GIFs, emojis and more β€” right from your keyboard. As an added bonus, we’ve added multilingual typing to help you switch languages on the fly. Try it out and let us know what you think!
@alanmni Alan, I've noticed on my Moto X that the keyboard takes a really long time to initialize, meaning that no predictions or auto-corrects appear for the first few minutes after the phone has booted. I'm also finding the swipe typing to be a lot less accurate than it was before this recent update. Do you have any insight into what's happening?
Adi silagy
@alanmni Hi Alen, Ihave been using Gboard on IOS for months now (since the launch). This is the only keyboard I have manage to use it is so fantastic! You really did a great job! I was wondering when will you release an Hebrew support for the Gboard! I'm willing to help πŸ˜‰
Alan Ni
@dereksilva Hey Derek, really sorry to hear that. I'll have our team look into this.
Alan Ni
@adisilagy Great to hear Adi. No specific date for Hebrew, but adding new languages will be a priority for Gboard in 2017 so stay tuned :).

@alanmni Hi Alan, ditto like what Derek mentioned. The keyboard takes forever to load, when it does load, it disappears, then pops back.. this is a continuous process. Love the G search within the keyboard, but it would be much more helpful if you could stabilise the main keyboard.

about time!

It's a phenomenal and fun keyboard to use on iOS so Android users should be psyched and try it out. Curious why it was released so long after the iOS version though...strange.

Gboard is a great keyboard. I'm iOS too, and I keep it installed alongside my favourite TouchPal, which is even better on Android than it is on iOS (where it seems to have been abandoned but thankfully still works). Anyway! It's TouchPal's swipable top and bottom rows, getting you numbers and punctuation respectively, that prevent me from switching to Gboard. Apple have also done something similar on their Swift Playgrounds programming keyboard (which I wish they'd bring to iOS outside of that app). Gboard team, please add shortcuts to other characters through swiping as a power user option!

I'm legitimately surprised that this came to iOS before Android, seeing as how it's from Google... but glad to finally get to try this out!

Awesome update. Only thing that is odd is by default long press on a letter doesn't bring up symbols, you have to enable it in the settings.

I am using it daily on my iPhone. It is a pity that it does not automatically recognizes the language we type to automatically adapt. What do you think ?

I was bouncing between Swift, Google Keyboard (before they re-branded it as Gboard), tried also some other new and old kids on the block, none had a level of customization I needed OR multi-language support (including aforementioned Google Keyboard).

Once Gboard introduced two languages I had hard time choosing between a bit sluggish Swift that had 3-language support and Gboard supporting "only" two languages. Then Google introduced a simultaneous support of 3 languages and it was a no-brainer for me going for Gboard.

Pros:

Typing in 3 different languages at the same time, beautiful design

Cons:

Google is definitely listening 🀨

Missing the emoji prediction and quick language switch I got used to on SwiftKey. But, I like the G Search integration and background image feature available on Gboard aka Google Keyboard for Android.

I use Gboard on each of my devices. It's just the best keyboard, both in terms of accuracy and clarity.
