@winstonzin@umar_saleem@parilti_erkan@alina_smirnova1 Few things:
- They recently introduced the 4 hour no votes showing up rule which I like for making things fairer
- They're cracking down on listing e-books and services which I think makes sense since they're Product Hunt, at the same time they could give these creators more insight on alternatives or let them know in advance it's not going to be listed. (maybe a way to submit products in advance and they say whether they will feature it or not?)
- I think there were more beta testers on the platform 3 years ago compared to now, as I've seen results from #1,2,3 positions be less significant. There's mostly marketers here which could be good or could be bad.
- Launch mechanics are pretty much the same, they got rid of product hunt ship and added the "notify me's" -- I'm actually fully in support of this (even though I don't think a "notify" is as effective as ship, I do believe the email system was very often abused)
- Products were a bit more diverse, but I think that's more a representation of the market than of product hunt.
- Hunters are less relevant than before. I kind of like how it leveled the playing scene as some hunters were charging pretty hefty consulting/launch rates for small businesses.
Wouldn't say one is better or worse, just different.
I'm launching for the first time in my life. On January 12th.
It's challenging, especially because those who already have a user base or bloggers truly have an advantage. I hope we'll be able to take a decent place :)
Oh, we just launched Beep 2.0 today (It's my first time launching here on PH as one of the later co-founders).
Do check us out - your feedback and support would be greatly appreciated :)
Will be sure to support you as well, Abhishek, once you launch. Don't hesitate to reach out to me via LinkedIn.
