fairness in the Product Hunt community?

Is it ethical for Product Hunters to promote and hype up products without fully disclosing any financial incentives or connections they may have with the product creators? Should there be stricter guidelines or regulations in place to ensure transparency and fairness in the Product Hunt community?

Ah, like someone sneakily promoting their product without letting you know they're the creator? I've definitely noticed this on Medium, a blog will be titled "5 ways to to optimize your SEO" and step 3 or 4 will be some link to their product. Never knew if this was legal or not but always left me with a weird feeling.
The guidelines are sort of there - but it's done all the time sadly.
