Good strategy to prep a launch for a productivity SaaS on Reddit

Hello everyone, As I prepare to launch my product on PH, I'm considering multiple additional channels including Reddit. Each channel has its own uniqueness, so I'm wondering what would be a good strategy for a B2B SaaS application, a Chrome extension for Gmail (productivity), on Reddit. FYI, the app will be in private beta with a waiting list at launch, with access restricted to PH / Reddit / etc.... audiences There are tons of possibilities but I'm at least wondering: - what subs are most appropriate? - What type of post/topic attracts more engagement? Thanks for any advice you can provide, even if they answer questions other than the 2 mentioned above 🙏

I think you should wait with ProductHunt until you've been live for some months. To get a successful launch on Product Hunt, you need a big following who can help you while launching and creating a buzz around your product. Voting, reviewing and commenting. Otherwise, it'll all be for nothing. Until then, go with Reddit and perhaps Indiehackers if you fit that profile.

@phillipstemann That is not true. It can be really useful to make a ProductHunt launch with an early-stage product. If you do it with a good hunter you can get to the top 20 of the day and get at least 200 visits to your website, which is good to collect feedback. Product hunt allows you to relaunch after 6 months once your product is more advance.

@phillipstemann thanks for sharing your thoughts. My plan so far is to prep for a launch for a private beta, on multiple channels, to start creating a small community (there are already ~1000+ testers on our waitlist), and then to prep for another launch when we'll open the beta to public, to finally prep again for a third one when we'll be out of beta. Do you think it could work? I'm interested in your point of view why it wouldn't be the best strategy.

@phillipstemann @fabian_maume Thanks Fabian, that's pretty much my intent until now: prep for a private beta launch, then for a public beta one, and then when we'll totally go out of beta. Are there too many steps in your opinion?

Why restrict access to PH & Reddit audiences?

@sven_radavics My plan would be to do a 3 steps launch: private beta, then public beta, then out of beta. The private one would be our current waitlist (~ 1000+ ppl so far) + some from well chosen channels (PH, Reddit, IndieHack, HackerNews). The intent is to get feedback from makers and entrepreneurs, before releasing it to anyone. What do you think of this strategy?

You can try to run Howitzer for Reddit campaign before your launch. I would also advise you to connect with other product hunt users on Twitter and LinkedIn. You can extract a list of people who upvoted similar products to have a relevant audience.
