If you have a start-up with a couple of people, what strategy do you choose? What budgets do you allocate for advertising? Do you hire a marketer or do you do everything yourself?
It's very interesting to hear different points of view
It depends on your time and resources; if you have time, you can do it by yourself.
It also depends on your understanding of different marketing channels and approaches.
If you're good at them, yes, you can.
But if you're not familiar with marketing or don't have the time to do it by yourself, invest in people with this background.
If you hire - of course what is your budget and what's the ROI from the marketing people you're working with.
I would ask:
- What is your business model?
- What are your goals?
- What are your current challenges?
These should be considered when you shape your strategy.
Also take into account the breadth of competition, and what the competitive landscape looks like as you plan your organic and/ or channel approach.
Depends a lot on the target market. Small niche target market that's easy to identify and reach? Cold email at the beginning.
Large mature consumer category where you're trying to capture rather than create demand? Affiliate, SEO, paid, etc.
