How does PH ranking algorithm work? 🤔
Hey Product hunters 👋 ,
I have seen
👉 Product with highest votes on second/third position
👉 Product with more comments in second/third/fourth position
👉 realized that sometimes Hunters, Makers point might affect the ranking or sometimes absolutely not.
Anyone who has cracked it or can explain it in a better way?

@inna_proshkina That does surprise me to an extent. Many articles online say a common strategy is to blast your post to your existing network.
@inna_proshkina @between_team But then have read that you cannot ask for upvotes. Stories where people with 1500 votes, woke up to see 700 next day. How does that work?
@between_team @arpitmishra that's exactly what we experienced when we launched last week. We had almost 1000 upvotes and ended up with just 650. Of couse it's frustrating and I think all the community would highly appreciate if PH was more transparent about the ranking.
Normally, the amount of votes determines the ranking, and the comments affect ties (I think?). Hunters attract their communities but maker points don't have any effect.
@rubenwolff Makes sense. But what do you think is ranked higher Comment or Likes?
I think it's a combination of: votes, comments and activity in the page. If a Maker with accumulated points does any of the three, it counts more in the algorithm.
