I am sure many on here are on the same path as me. You spotted something in the world that isn't quite right. What we're taught (or not taught) doesn't seem to match with how we grew up to perceive the world.
That was what the financial market is for me. It was something 'you should know about'. You're encouraged to make 'sound investments' and 'take advantage of the stock market to grow your wealth'. The highs are thrilling and the lows are head-scratchingly frustrating.
I realised that most of us retail investors are just following the crowd, listening to experts and analysts to make decisions. And it's our money that takes the hit when the market crashes. Everyone else has cushions, we don't.
I think we are slowly edging towards a brave new world where being an independent thinker isn't just cool, it's essential. Understanding about economics, business, and finance isn't an option anymore. It's time we put on our detective hats and start sifting through the noise ourselves.
Let's not swallow what we're fed; let's chew on ideas, spit out the nonsense, and digest the good stuff.
And that's what
The Investor's Guide to the Galaxy is all about. We take the principle of value investing and marry it up with space exploration (I mean, we all
love space, right?) and put it in a web book format. We dive into business cases and financial statement in a fun and compelling way.
By the end of the web book, you'll understand the power of intrinsic value and have the ability to work out valuation for any public company. You can continue using our web app to discover and track innovative companies in our database, and use our intrinsic value with your adjusted projections and assumptions.
