Is anonymity on the Internet important? Is it a harm or a good thing?

Hello, community! Many people have heard about the fear of losing personal data today. When someone discovers his passport number in the public domain on the Internet, he starts to raise the alarm. A stream of curses starts pouring out to the service that allowed the leak. The culprit can be anyone - a telecom operator, a bank, a retail chain, a store, a restaurant. Fear of loss of personal data on the Internet is primarily due to the risk of its unauthorized use. Lately the issue of anonymity has become a stumbling block for many. What do you think about this?

It is a good thing, because if given the freedom to express your thoughts without being identified, you will be more honest with yourself and the people around you too. It is a bad thing because it makes it easier to say hurtful things to others without getting caught. So while it's a good thing, its existence only breeds more bad in society. It's a negative thing overall.

I think it's good and bad. Creating a "persona" online can detach yourself from who you are day to day and thus poses a risk for potential identity issues or wanting to live online because you feel more validated online rather than in real life. Its an uncomfortable topic because social media has taught us that there is two realities
