@dylan_merideth interesting in the PH docs it reads that it make very little difference "Finding a “Hunter”. Feel free to hunt your own product. Having someone else posting is fine, but spending lots of time “finding a hunter” is a distraction. You know your product better than anyone else, and it makes very little difference who hunts the product and how well it performs overall."
@megan_hales please link me to the docs so I can learn! I both believe this and dont, its akin to influencer marketing in my eyes. If Chris Messina hunts your product vs me hunting your product, you dont think there's any difference in exposure?
@megan_hales Thank you so much for the link! I didnt mean to be combative, my apologies, was simply asking what you thought relative to the point you brought up. I do think its a distraction as mentioned in the article, but a lil cold outreach cant be something you are afraid of on this journey
@paul_vanzandt users is the first! so good responses are more important to the product than votes. So the really interesting part has just began ))) Good luck!)
Did you have an upcoming PH page? That will helps, even though it's only a little more than a week left! Good luck with your launch, will be there to watch you succeed!
@kmelaika Thanks for the tip Kazimieras, we have an upcoming page here https://www.producthunt.com/upco... and have been using it to the best of our ability. Thanks for the support!
Hey Paul, congrats on deciding to launch. We just launched Track today https://www.producthunt.com/post... and we are trending. One key learning was make sure the collaterals you are posting and the video as well are high quality. Also, shore up a lot of energy :) I had a 17 hour day before and on the day of the launch. Ideally if you have people to help you respond to comments / reviews that would be really helpful . All the best!
A launch on Product Hunt (or a few days later) is also a great time to reach out to journalists (e.g. journalists in "tech" or journalists that cover your topic/problem space).
Typically your Product Hunt page already has most of the information that is in a "press and media kit". This is a good start.
Of course reaching out to journalists is its own art and it will not always directly lead to coverage. But since you already went through all the work to get your product ready for launch and created all the assets and infos for Product Hunt reaching out to journalists gives you a decent shot at getting additional exposure.
@__tosh This is something I haven't really heard before - thanks for the advice! If you want to get info about our launch this Thursday you can check the link here: https://www.producthunt.com/upco...
I also launch in may, but have no short-term tips, would also be very grateful to read good tips here. Wish you good luck for the upcoming launch, will be there :)
