Preparing for Our Product Hunt Launch - Am I Overdoing It?

9
We're gearing up to launch our product, PyjamaHR ATS, on Product Hunt. As the VP of Marketing, I, of course, want the launch to be perfect. I've been diving deep into how to make this launch successful. So far, I've read about 42 blogs (with a few more on my read tonight list) and 7–10 Twitter posts on the best practices for launching on PH. I want to ensure that we're fully prepared, but I'm starting to wonder if I'm overdoing it. Has anyone else felt the same way during their preparation? How did you strike the right balance between being informed and being overwhelmed?

It is not a heart operation, you can always launch it again. Also, you need to focus on getting leads from PH not just upvotes. This is important. You will ask thousands of people on social media or here to upvote, but that doesn't mean they are your audience. Founders often face the fact - they get hundreds of upvotes that do not convert into users not to mention paying users. And then thinking "I must done something wrong". Well, yes. Your friend will support your launch but won't purchase the product. Offer a special discount for those who will come to you from PH, outreach to the target audience with this discount offer.

I can relate! For our launch, we also read tons of blogs and posts. What helped us was focusing on key strategies that were mentioned repeatedly. Also, reaching out to others who’ve launched on PH for advice was invaluable.

I completely understand, we were unsure at the beginning as well and did a lot of reading. But over time you develop a very good feeling for Product Hunt!

You never over do it! What's the main takeaway from your multiple readings?

@suchal_bojamma What's considered a low follower count? I heard that most companies on PH that have a great launch didn't use a hunter. I totally agree with the network part of course!

Depends quite a bit of the person, myself I also like to prepare well for an upcoming launch. (Btw, we just launched today!). It's much easier to handle the launch day when you are well prepared

There is always only one first time. :) I think it's normal to try to do your best. The only advice I can give you is to try to focus on that 20 per cent of actions that bring you 80 per cent of the result

Most PH launches are a luck the draw that I have seen. Some do well with a lot of prep other vise versa. Just do it! Good luck on the launch.
