Requirements for after-hours work - on what terms are you willing to work on your day off?

Hi friends) We all have tasks that we don't have time to do during work hours. How do you feel about being asked to work on your day off? Should it be paid? Do you set clear boundaries on what the day off is not for work?

Never on a day off! Terms on overtime should be clear from the start to avoid surprises and avoid a negative environment. Better for both the employees and the company

@katerina_kurshina It's rarely urgent enough to go overtime :) But even these cases should be predetermined in the job description. So if a critical service is down during off-hours, everyone knows who needs to jump in.

it should be paid - but not necessarily in money. It could be about experience, promotion perspectives etc

@katerina_kurshina overtime work should be rewarding - but not necessarily rewarded with money! For many motivated people, it might be acceptable to work overtime for free - provided there are perspectives of a promotion in a longer run. It shouldn't be taken for granted, of course.

It definitely should be paid in whatever type and also, an employee should be notified before because everyone has plans, so... at least a week or two before. I know that there are sometimes emergency tasks that should be. done asap but teamwork comes in hand here - everyone should dedicate some time for these things. Btw guys, we’re launching in late May. If you're coming off of a full-time job, it can be hard to determine your rate. It's much different when you're employed 40 hours per week and have a set salary; calculating your hourly rate is as simple as dividing that number by the amount of hours worked. After-hours work is more complex, especially when it comes up frequently.

It should be announced 1-3 days before and you should be able to reject it. It should be paid work time and a 30% of your hourly/daily rate.

As a founder, I try and set hard boundaries on weekends because if I don't, it's really easy to slip into working the entire time. That being said, on the weekdays my schedule needs to be really flexible and there aren't hard boundaries around when I need to start/stop.

I think working during free days or working extra hours must be paid (in money :D), and at a rate that is a double amount per hour than normally. I had the luck to be in companies that do so... It is possible and fair towards time and the lives of people. Extra bonuses, promotions, etc should come with successes, devotion, and experiences, in tasks and projects... But time is time, and time is money definitely, therefore everyone should respect their own and the time of others. :D ^_^
