What are some businesses which are harder to scale compared to others?

Services business are harder to scale - typically requires a lot of human capital. Farms are also not easy to scale.

Hmmm, maybe marketplaces? I'm building one right now and boy is this a ride. Trying to acquire two customers in tandem is freaking hard.
