What do you really want from the AI tools you use?
Today we launched Hylark on Product Hunt. One of our main focuses in the architecture has been making integrations, like with AI, possible and scalable.
Similarly, in the user experience, our focus has been to implement these tools to make Hylark more intuitive, useful, and powerful. Our goal is to enable users to build something genuinely aligned with their unique context, dreams, and life.
The result is being able to create and customize your Hylark account with a chat. No more rigid templates or starting from someone else’s idea of what you need.
For users - How do you feel about using AI tools in your everyday workflow? Have they genuinely helped you accomplish more, or do they sometimes feel like hype without substance?
For makers - What have been your biggest insights in delivering value with AI? How do you think products should handle the balance between AI enhancing user experience and overcomplicating it?

As both a user and a maker, I have mixed feelings about AI tools and what they’re capable of achieving.
For example, just today I was trying to use ChatGPT to troubleshoot an issue I was having and it was continually going down the wrong path. Eventually, it did “get it” though, but didn’t propose any suitable solutions. Not to mention that it’s made blatant mistakes/contradicted itself on other occasions.
However, other times, it's really felt like a "miracle" that I can just ask some questions/get relevant information/images/code snippets etc so easily, and using AI sped up my work significantly.
Will the issues I mentioned above (which are well documented) ever be truly fixed? I don’t know. Until then, we can appreciate all that AI tools can do for us, use them and integrate them into our platforms, while tempering our expectations about their capabilities.

In my personal experience I've found various AI tools have been able to dramatically improve my productivity.
However it does have some serious downsides for both consumers and creators. The oversaturation of AI generated images and blog posts has made it much harder to find relevant information online, and it only causes harm to creators.
I do think they have huge potential to help people get up to speed with advanced software.
I'm a power user so I really like to get into fine tuning customisations of an application, and when I'm comfortable with something I like to do everything myself, but I can still find large programs daunting when there's a lot to learn. I think this is an ideal role for AI
AI definitely has the potential to supercharge productivity, especially for complex software. The ability to quickly get up to speed and access relevant info without wading through AI-generated fluff would be game-changing. I'd love AI assistance with customizing settings and workflows based on my usage patterns. And of course, summarizing key points to save time. The dream is AI that truly understands my needs and adapts to how I work best.
AI models must be continuously updated as technology advances, and services must be improved by reflecting user feedback.
We enable you to obtain information and use services in new ways that you have never experienced before.
There is a risk that personal information may be leaked, which may lead to a privacy violation.
As dependence on AI increases, human capabilities may decline.
Ethical guidelines for AI development and use must be established and followed.
What do you think the future of AI will be like?
Totally agree that AI should adapt to how we work best! For me, the key things I want are: 1) AI that can quickly digest my notes, docs, code etc to understand context 2) Proactively offers suggestions to improve my workflow based on my actual usage 3) Seamlessly integrates with my tools so I'm not constantly context switching 4) Lets me stay in control but automates tedious stuff in the background 5) Gets smarter over time as it learns my preferences. That kind of AI assistant would be a huge productivity booster!
