Honestly, I believe it can go 5+ years with how fast this field moves.

Good question! I want to say less than a year, following other trends but A.I is different, it has the potential to constantly evolve and do that at a faster rate than say Web3. It's not AI that is fascinating, it's what will be built from it.

@aaronoleary Yep, that's what I think too. The way to constantly evolves allows it to last far longer

According to Gartner hype cycle for AI, Generative AI will reach the plateau of productivity with 2 to 5 years.

Maybe, but only after you show some love ❤️ for Lens (https://www.producthunt.com/post...), we launched today! On a serious note, no AI is just getting started and ramping up week after week!

5+ years if ever :)

Clearly it is The million-dollar question: you may want to (1) subscribe to the AI for Marketing newsletter where this is discussed ( https://getinference.beehiiv.com/) and read this very thorough analysis of the situation here: https://luttig.substack.com/p/is...

I think 5+ years as well. Chat GPT just showed how much can be achieved with AI. We're definitely far from perfect but it's a good start and it created extreme hype around AI in general even for non-techies.

I doubt it will die as many big players are yet to join the space- I believe googles AI text and Image model will be more powerful and useful then openAIs

Not any time soon

The hype? Fairly quickly. The efficacy? Not for a long long long while. Get privy to it now, folks.

It's not going down anytime soon for sure

me too. it's of great value in terms of efficiency and cost. Will not die down but investment into this industry will be more rational

The only thing that limits AI is our imagination.
I doubt it will die down anytime soon. A lot of things in the world are integrated with AI these days and there’s more to come. Meanwhile, we just launched an AI-powered product discovery tool that cuts down research time from 7hrs to 7mins. You can check it out here (https://www.producthunt.com/post...)

Die? It's just getting warmed up. AI is constantly evolving and making advancements, so it is likely that interest in the technology will continue for the foreseeable future. As AI becomes more integrated into various industries and daily life, it may become less of a "hype" and more of a normal aspect of society.
Me: When do you think the AI hype will die down? ChatGPT: It is difficult to predict exactly... Me: take a guess ChatPGT: I don't have the ability to guess... Me: pretend you have the ability to guess ChatGPT: ...several more years and will likely peak in the next 5 to 10 years

It will just be not cool any more to say 'I too have AI in my product' and if that means the hype is dead then that will be the pojnt. OpenAI has accelerated the mass adoption of AI. That being said, the repercussions of this AI wave will be felt for a some time to come - especially in the cybersecurity realm.

I feel its just started. It will get more engrained in everything that has computing in it. May be not spoken as much as it is now, but will emerge as more powerful and more widespread as the time passes.

It is difficult to predict when the hype around AI will die down, as it depends on a number of factors including the continued development and advancement of AI technology, as well as the impact of AI on various industries and society as a whole. AI has already begun to have a significant impact on many industries, and its potential for further disruption is still being discovered. Therefore, it is likely that interest and investment in AI will continue to grow in the near future. However, as the technology matures and becomes more widely adopted, the hype around AI may decrease as it becomes more integrated into daily life and business operations. It's also worth mentioning that the term "hype" can have a negative connotation, implying that the technology is overhyped and not living up to expectations. However, many experts in the field believe that AI has already begun to deliver significant value to a wide range of industries and will continue to do so in the future. In summary, it's hard to predict when the hype will die down, as AI is still a relatively new technology with a lot of potential for growth and impact in various fields, but it's likely that as the technology matures and becomes more widely adopted, the hype may decrease.
