Gist AI was born out of our own frustrations with the existing solutions for content summarization. We aimed to create a one-stop solution that efficiently summarizes everything — be it articles, YouTube videos, or PDFs — and saves you some valuable time each day. Gist AI is designed to be intuitive, so you can instantly hit the ground running.
My personal favorite 🙈 is that now I can summarize long PDFs for free. Let us know what your favorite feature in Gist AI is?

I came to know about this product while searching for chrome plugin that can help summarise the pdf/text file. I instantly jumped out to check it. The product worked flawlessly and helped me achieve what I wanted with some tweaking and adjustments in the prompt.
Its a good product to use especially if you want to extract the summary and responses based on your local files.

It's a great suggestion to add specialized support for niche content. This is something we are also planning to have in future versions. Do let us know if you have any specific type of content in mind.
Mobile support is also something we should definitely explore. But it will be different from the existing workflow and needs some more planning.

I've just tried your extension, and it's awesome!
Having different apps for all these tasks made it such a problem to switch from one to another.
My question to you is:
1/ Is there a way to get a summary of a YouTube video if it doesn't have captions?
2/ Does it support other languages besides English?

1/ For YouTube videos without captions, currently we don't support them but we're planning on options to still provide meaningful summaries in future.
2/ Yes, we support 30+ languages, making Gist AI accessible worldwide!

Congrats on the launch 🔥! The experience is awesome, one click to get a summary is just awesome.
A possible improvement for the future could be to let the user decide of the level of details he wants. Or maybe have a new button that the user can click in order to have a "longer" summary.
Also I wonder how you managed to make the product completely free. Will it remain this way or do you have plans to implement a subscription or one time payment model ?

Great suggestion! The ability to let the user decide the length of the summary is something which can be really useful. We are planning to add such features in future.
We plan on keeping Gist AI free for the foreseeable future. The main reason is that we want to onboard as many users as we can and improve the product from user feedback.

@sentry_co We're thrilled you find the YouTube summary feature cool! 😊 You're right, ChatGPT can summarize URLs, but it's generally a paid feature (as far as I know) and doesn't include uploaded PDF or YouTube capabilities. Another thing that sets Gist AI apart is our unique one-click "Read More" feature that allows you to directly view the original source of the summary or jump directly to timestamps in YouTube videos. This way, you can dive deeper into any content that piques your interest.
Congratulations for the launch! Are you planning to the link it with other note/memo tools like Notion, Evernote, etc. Sounds very useful for people trying to Build a Second Brain.
