Hi there. I'm the GitLab product manager responsible for GitLab issue boards. This looks very interesting. Wanted to share some ideas we have scoped out that are very similar and may be able to solve the problems here that the extension addresses. Please feel free to jump into the issues and leave comments and/or submit a merge request to contribute code. We have some improved designs on how boards interact in general. We want to make them simpler and address different use cases directly.
